KUALA LUMPUR: National doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat, who is often seen sporting different coloured hairstyles, has vowed to go bald if he wins the All-England title with partner Tan Boon Heong. Reigning Asian Games champions Kien Keat-Boon Heong are one of Malaysia’s best bet to win the title after a 25-year lapse. The last winners came from the Sidek brothers - Jalani and Razif - in 1982. After crashing out in the second round in his three previous attempts, the 22-year-old Kien Keat is all fired up for an outstanding show. “All the doubles players have worked very hard for this All-England. The title also means a lot to our coach. I know his birthday is coming up and the best way that I can repay his faith in all of us is to win the title for him,” said Kien Keat. Rexy will be celebrating his 39th birthday on March 9. “And if Boon Heong and I can win the title, I will certainly go bald. It is a personal vow,” he said. Kien Keat made his maiden appearance in the All-England in 2004 at the age of 19 with Gan Teik Chai but they crashed out in the second round. In the last two years, he had played with Chan Chong Ming. In 2005, he also suffered a second round exit and last year, he had to concede a walkover because of Chong Ming’s stomach ailment. “I never had good results in the All-England. But I plan to change all that. This time, I want to reach at least the semi-finals,” said Kien Keat. Barring any upsets, three Indonesian pairs stand in Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s way to the last four. They duo will take on Indon’s senior-junior pairing of Sigit Budiarto-Fran Kurniawan in the opening round. isn't it usually the other way around? I thought athletes go bald if they LOSE, so it shows how strong their will power is. If he LIKED having hair, then why would he make this kind of vow? kinda weird imo

KKK is officially Bald now! I just got to know that 988 (Malaysian Chinese radio channel) will feature phone interview with KKK and TBH. Managed to catch the interview... The whole interview was in Mandarin.. and the thing is.. my Mandarin is not that good, so can't understand fully. But.. one thing I could hear loud and clear was... KKK said he just shaved today!!!! Anyone who heard the interview can share more info of the interview content? Here's what I could remember/understand:- - KKK said TBH is the more talkative one. - They normally communicate in Hokkien or Mandarin. KKK's Mandarin is not very good, so sometimes they also speak in Malay. - TBH said he can't speak English. - TBH will be having a meal with coach and family members (tomorrow i think) for a lil' celebration - KKK on TBH when on court: He's like a normal player... only difference with me would be, I have more experience. - they sorta click well together.. but not really close buddies. - TBH on KKK: Just normal - tho TBH looks quiet, he likes to joke around - TBH said he always play in a calm manner.. not putting pressure on him. - KKK said he just shaved. DJ asked when we'll see him bald. KKK said when we see him next on TV - that'll be in Johor.
