As far as I know the majority of footie players in the UK down pasta and chicken before matches. In an episode of the West Wing too when the Deputy Chief of Staff was about to meet the Vice President during jogging, he said something in the lines of "... some chicken and pasta, gotta pack in the carbs...".

There's a big disadvantage for me and some of my buddies trying out. We have a 4 lap run around the school today. For fitness test!!:( Or if it's not a good day outside then we do pushup/situp tests etc. NOo....!

So this week wasn't tryouts..this week is just practice and next week are the tryouts!!! I'm just wondering should I or can I wear my yonex shb99m to volleyball? In a way I think it's better then using normal running shoes. I just don't want to buy volleyball shoes. Thanks for the advices guys.

Definitely, badminton shoes would be good for volleyball.

One thing badminton is great for, it gives you a killer overhand volleyball serve.

I couldn't do anything else, but dang could I serve. Unfortunately you're only allowed to underhand serve in grade 7, thus I didn't make the cut :p

Lol, volleyball is a pretty fun sport. Can't beat softball, but it's still enjoyable. Not trying out for my school team though because I still prefer to spend time playing badminton.. they train every weekday after school.. I have far better things to do then to train for a sport that I don't love that much.

Oh, plus the fact that my height at 5 feet doesn't help much. :p In badminton I don't feel it, but in volleyball I really have to jump.

azn_123, how did your try outs go?

yes, it is indeed! I miss it very much!
I was a school team member in the 80's. At that time, I had a chance to choose between being a volley ball palyer and a badminton player to represent my school. I had turn myself towards volley ball eventually coz we were deeply influence by the chinese women national team. they were so popular. you know, lang ping, zhang rongfang etc etc..... if i remember correctly. lang is now the coach of the usa women national team!
since i left my school. i never had a chance to play again!
as for your height. u can be a setter! think about it if u still love it!;)

how's the tryouts going azn_123? any good news?

Not fair...the tryouts were totally RIGGED..:crying: Yes:crying: I tried out for middle position and I wasn't on the list..some other guy got on the team but he SUCKED..OK no offense but last year I didn't get in as it was rigged..it's more like a popularity contest than ACTUALLY doing good in that sport. It really pissed me off..ARGGG I just wanna spike the vball into there faces..cheap.:( :crying: :crying:

Hahaha! Setter? Nope, I don't enjoy the game as much as I do with other sports, ie. badminton, squash, softball. :D I only enjoy joining the training sessions to crack a few jokes, hit the ball around a while, hear the team's plans, but never to seriously join them and play/train. ;) Yeah, I suppose you can label me the 'busy body'.

Well azn_123, you can always ask the coach/teacher or captain the reason you're not in..

I was also planning on do lots of private lessns+group soon. Until I get my A for that single course!! AHHHH if I tried out for this vball club and got in I would be 100% on the team for sure. I guess I'm going to do some vball summer camps. And of course the c2 summer camps!!:D
