I think it depends, really. If you catch them just before a game and when they warm up and so on - then you probably would have some problems getting a photo. Maybe you can get one when they watch the others games hours before their own match. But I've heard that the big tournaments they have quite strict rules with players lounge and so on. But you can always try to ask them.

Best time to ask them is when they are not playing. Or at least 1 to 2hrs before their match.

 

Best time and place:

Stay in front of the Washroom's door... wait for the moment when one of them rush to the washroom in a hurry, then stand between him/her and the washroom door. Next, threaten him/her that you won't let them "go" in peace until they finish taking a photo with you.

This will work better if you can find a friend to block the other gender's (male/female) washroom door as well, just in case they are desperate enough to go to the other one.

Well, i think u have a good chance in countries were badminton isn't that popular.
For example at German open i could get a photo with yang wei/zhang jiewen and also XXF.
I had also the chance to take pictures with LD and other pros.
It seems to be more difficult in asia.

 

i don't think so... in asia badminton is really popular sport... and it is not really difficult to get some pics with players... unless not right before they played a game... you won't get one.

 

I think it depends on a lot of factors. Some of the big or more high ranked tournaments have more strict security where meeting the players themselves is already a difficult. Plus players will be more defensive in those tournament cause too many people asking. But you may try after their match and my personal advise is never ask before their match Sometimes players will wonder around the venue to buy food and stuff. Tat's the best opportunity i guess. May i know where is the best spot in Malaysia to meet national players other than their training place? Where do Lee Chong Wei do his shopping? Haha.. I have heard people taking pictures with Lee Wan Wah in Midvalley and sawing him in Starbucks.. I do not have the luck to meet them.. I wish to meet Lee Chong Wei, Tan Boon Heong, Koo Kien Kiet and Lee Wan Wah.. Just my personal preference to meet these 4 players.. Hopefully someday I will be able to meet them when shopping..
