For those of you who wants to be updated about the Junior scene :

In today's last 16 round of the tournament, some exciting matches were played.

1st match pitted the no. 1 seed Poon Jey ren of Rosyth Pri against the vast improving no.9 seed Leslie Teng Pang Liang of Temasek pri. The thrilling match ended in favour of Poon jey ren 11-15, 15-12, 15-4 in a 1 hr 15 min contest. Jey ren's determination see him thru. However, Pang liang should be the guy to watch out next year as he will be the hot fav to win as he is only 11 this year.

2nd match of the day goes to Edwin Lim wei xiang vs Mohd Imran Khan, the latter being the No. 2 seed and is the son of Singapore ex-national champion Hamid Khan. The unseeded Edwin (Kong Hwa Pri) upset the form book showing brilliant net control and nice nifty footwork to beat the lethargic Imran (Nan Chiau)15-11, 15-6.

3rd match feature no.14 seed Ho Huin Kit from Red Swastika Pri who dispatch Peck Ern Min of ACS Primary 15-7 15-7 in straight set.

The rest of the singaporean born school boys through to the Quater-finals are :
No. 11 seed Eng Chin An who beat china born qualifier Pang Ran ( both are from Maris stella), unseeded Douglas Yuen (Maris Stella), No. 13 seed Li Zhengxi (Nanyang Pri)

Two China born imports now stand in the way of the local born lads. They are, favourite of the tournament, No 12 seed Wu Song Jian from Poi Ching School and
Zhu Bo Ling from Yu Neng Pri, who is another one to be watch out for.

I wish the Singapore lads all the best and beat those china born imports to show that we Singaporeans are still the best.

My performance of the day : Unseeded Edwin upsetting the form book. Congrats to you Edwin.

**Btw, Edwin is the son of our forum user Skyrider. He used to join the Saturday morning group in CCK. SOme of you guys might even have played against edwin and Ho Huin kit as they have come down and spar with you guys before.

Is this tournament sanctioned by the SBA? If so, why is it still using the old scoring system?

domestic tournament is up to the organiser, it all depends on the
number of entries, some doemstic tournament they use the new
21 pts new systems, and some tournament they use single 15 pts
old systems and double they use 21 pts new systems, but if it's
international tournament as recognise by wbf definitely the new
    systems.

    cheers
