    Hi BC,

Well I think it is my turn to contribute with a review on the Gosen Roots Aermet 6900 Boonsak model (burgundy). I bought the racquet from Rose when I was in HK. I did not actually planned to buy this racquet but :p i am a sucker for new things.

    There are pics on www.gosen-china.com , www.gosen.co.jp

It says on the racquet 87g 290 mm Bpt, stiff & string tension 26-28 LBS (please add the plus and minus besides the rating). Am not sure where the racquet is made. It has the two point kick system, aermet technology and hot melt graphite (whatever those marketing mumbo jumbo means). Oh and it has muscle power grommets on the sides of the racquet. It is the same length as the mp99.

I am comparing this to my mp99 3uG4. I find that although the Gosen is rated stiff, it is much more flexible compared to my ex –stiff mp99. The racquet feels a lot lighter than my Yonex. It is slightly head heavy. Playing with this racquet has been quite easy, it did not take me a long time to adjust compared to the mp99. I feel that my defence and clears are much better because the racquet is more flexible and lighter. It could be the kick point because I find my flicks easier to execute. Backhand is also much easier :p. I am not sure of the smashing because I find the smashes with the Gosen very different compared to the mp99. With the mp99 I was able to generate a lot of power and I find the trajectory more accurate. I guess the kick point actually makes a difference. I would say my smashes are easier to execute, aiming is a little different but power-wise I have still not found the optimum level. I am starting to like the Gosen because I think it is an all round racquet which is slightly head heavy. It is different compared to my mp99 but both are good racquets. I still like the boom and the whip of the mp99 ehehe :p

I recommend this racquet to anybody who is looking for something different and an all-rounder :). All in all a good purchase because I like to try new things and I am quite happy with how the Gosen has performed. Gosen is Good :p (Btw That is their slogan)

p/s I got it strung at 24lbs with Bg-80. I wanted it at 26lbs but the uncle at Rose refused to do it. oh well.

Any questions please feel free to ask and I hope I can give some constructive comments :) but don't ask me for the price :p I don't think I can sleep if i found out I was cheated aHAHAHAHa :p I love Hong Kong, can't wait to go back and visit again :)

Don't worry. You've got the right place :)

Is the grip size G5? I've been window-shopping around a few shops and cannot find the G4 ones. So I am hesitating and still playing with my good old Aermet 3600.

    Hi Scott,

Yeah :) played more with the 6900. Am starting to like it even more, i switched to my mp99 for a game hehehe kept on framing all my shots ahhaha like i just bought a new racquet. Yeaps the grip size is G5. I read somewhere in BC, could be posted by you that Rose stock the G5's only...Good luck in your search for G4. I am happy Gosen convert hehehe.... i still have a woven 8 which i have not really played with hehehe

    Hi kikks9,

I want to buy a Gosen Racket too! It has some creative technology with a reasonable price (YY is too expensive nowadays). I got some report from other forum stated that Gosen two point kick system can generate a huge power. is it real? comparing to YY MP99, which generate more power?

Thanks. I want to know more before I buy it.

    Hi Ivan,

I agree that it has some creative technologies :) It is quite different from a YY. I am slowly getting used to it and I think it is great. Hmmm I am still unsure about the smashing power because it is really quite different from the MP99. I can generate alot of power with the mp99 and whip the mp99. I still have not played enough with the Gosen to be able to learn how to use it properly, I think I can still generate more power from the Gosen but I need to learn how to do it. Its the same as when I just bought the mp99 hehehe have to get used to it first. Have to play more and learn to adapt and utilise it better :p .... Give the Gosen a try mate, no harm trying :) something different and you may like it heheehe General feedback from Gosen users have been very positive :)

I'm gonna get my hands on a couple of Gosen 6900 and 7900 next week, hopefully. I'll write a review on it too.:D

Gonna try to string it with R4x100 at 30lbs, see how it feel after couple of smashes.

Panda will try it too and see how many smashes a 0.63mm string will last....????

Post some pics of your new weapon!! :p The 7900 looks awesome, I am interested in what revolutionary cavity system means ehehe...

Haih....my 6900 strings broke half way in a match, i did not notice and continued playing the last few points :( lost the match.. I felt so weird when it broke, i was swinging my racquet in my living room in the afternoon and I had a look at my strings, i saw fraying around the sweetspot. I thought to myself, damn the strings are going to break and then I said to myself better not think about it because it will surely happen. ahahaha and it broke at night. how is that for luck..i can predict the future now. side effects of playing badminton???

anyway the 6900 has served me well and its time for some fresh strings for my baby.

I played with my backup racquet, the infamous sotx woven 8 and I must say that it is a good racquet. I was quite surprised and now I understand why it has good reviews. I want to thank everybody who recommended this racquet to me, it was well worth the money.

Looks like the mp99 has been relegated to third spot !!!:eek:

    Gosen 7900.

Here are some pics of my new Gosen 7900 with Ashaway MicroPower XL orange strung at 28/31 lbs, Wilson Micro-Dry Max Replacement grip.
The new 7900 has dual-grommets on the sides with some vibration absorbers, Power Cavities on the inside of the frame (big holes).

The orange paint looks really attractive.

    Cons:
I think the Power Cavities will weaken the frame integrity. Any racket clash on the sides will break the racket.

WOW...looks good !!! I want one now ehehh just joking I think my 6900 will last me for many years (fingers crossed). How does it play? Head heavy ? Flex ??

Hrmm the power cavity looks interesting. I don't understand the logic in having bigger holes. Anyways..........

Thanks for the pics. They look good. EHeheh if you don't like your 7900 make sure you message me :) I may be interested :). Have fun !!!

p/s I have just restrung my 6900 with Gosen strings but it does not feel as nice compared with the BG80 :( strung it at 24/26pounds. :( no boom boom

If you try Gosen NanoCubic, pre-stretch the string and tension to 28/30, the boom boom will come back....:D:D:D

viper i don't believe i can take those tension. for me it will feel like hitting with a plank :p:p those tension are for the elite, i am just a lowly 24/26, on my good days i go up to 26/28 but very rarely.

Agree, the lack of material could possibly mean a weaker frame in those areas... similar reason why I gave up on the older Mizuno models, as well as for not trying out a couple of the Wilson Ncode models... (N2,N4,N6 I believe), because of this concave design.

But Gosen has always made some pretty awesome racquets, it might be worth a swing...

Enlighten me once again though... they were available in 3 1/2" diameter grip right? I forget which system Gosen used to measure... I think it was opposite of YY though.

BTW... any updates from your play testing? :D
You know me, always up for trying something new :p

Ah don't let the price fool you though, my experience with Gosen racquets is much better than the ones I had with their string (durability issues :p)

I'm pretty sure they'll be really sweet racquets.
