ok, this time it is not a night sleeping type of dream, but more like a daydream.

i was talking to a active local tournament organizer recently, and the subject of tournaments came up. he is trying to find sponsor for his next tournament. then that got me thinking, is it possible for BC to sponsor a tournament?

the idea is really sound. firstly, the tournament itself will bring together badminton players from all over the country, this will help promote badminton. secondly, sponsorship will help market BC and hopefully will means more players can come here and talk and get excited about badminton.

unfortunately, the amount is not possible to be footed by BC alone, we are talking about nearly US$2000. then i realized that since there are so many members here in BC, maybe you guys can help me out in making this into reality: can you make a donation to BC for sponsoring a tournament? if there are 200 members and each donate US$10 to a BC tournament fund, we can make up the US$2000 needed for the sponsorship.

the money will go into the the prize money and to the organizer for their effort in running the tournament, in return, the event will foster the growth of badminton.

what do you guys think? do you think you can skip lunch for a day? or skip buying that new racket and donate the money to such a good cause?

please send comment here or PM to me.

I think that would be a great idea. would we get some kind of discount if we participate in the tournament? maybe like 10% discount or something =P

I am in (I haven't bought a racket for years anyway!)

Make sure you get BC t-shirt for every entrant too! the old ones are the best.

When will the tournament be? **daydreams**

Terrific Idea.. I take it that a BC sponsored tourney would be in the state of california right?

If so....i might need some really advanced notice so that i can plan some vacation time =) i like the 10% discount idea.....or....instead hand out a BC tournament t-shirt. that'd be cool.

I'm sure u can get enough ppl to donate an amount (whether it's fixed or variable).

Kwun: you must be reading my mind. I was thinking about e-mailing you about doing some kind of Tourney (BC related of course) these past few days. ...:D

I would be more than happy to donate funds for a BC Tourney. :)

I even volunteer to be a 225lbs. panda line judge. :p

I have a few rackets I can auction off and all the proceeds would go to the BC Tourney...how does that sound? :D

$100 per person and we can have our own BC super series....:D :D :D

How about creating a new thread with sticky, honoring the people who donate money.

    Like.....DinkAlot $100

Hey Dink, For a $20,000 prize money tournament, you're playing in the Open/A with me, I'll need your big gun. Kwun, don't let Dink play in Novice, he is sandbagging......:D :D :D

    Tournament is a great idea.
I believe a lot of members could not come to watch it. Could you tape some matches and post them here ?

    Support your BC.

Might need a couple of weeks for this thread to be viewed and responded.
    Maybe make it a sticky.

Also a donation address will be great. Paypal charges fees for money transfers, right? I'd rather donate $100 to you than $94 and $6.00 to paypal. I can mail a check.:D

Is $20,000 to $30,000 a realistic goal? I'm sure players from around the world would come to play.

Yes, everyone, we need your response. Let's support BC.:)

Kwun, just curious, which gym will it be held at?
