Hello all, This is currently my second year playing Badminton. I am 15, and i play badminton for my school. i think personally im pretty good, as i can beet almost everyone at the club, but i need alot more focus on the bird and hitting it. i just recently purchased my first own racket. before i was using the schools. my first racket i bought last week was a Carlton v400. when i first used it it was going good, but then the second time using it, the strings snapped, so i brought it back, and got a Wilson V10. i havnt used it yet, but it looks alot better then the Carlton . Now, does this wilson racket, is it a good one, or bad? what are its Pros, and cons?? does this racket have alot of power for smashed? and control for drops? Can you reply ASAP on your thoughts, on this Wilson V10?? thanks alot
Well...I'm not sure why you returned your Carlton v400. If your strings snap, then you should just have it restrung instead. Thought I'd just let you know in case you didn't know that you can restring rackets. So when your strings break on your Wilson v10, then you'll know that you can just get it restrung.
Yes, i am aware of you can repair strings lol, im not retarded. its just, i paid 19.99$ and, i first thought it was a steal, but after using it, the feel didnt feel right. and its a junior racket... im not a junior... the carlton was heavy, and slow i personally think this wilson will improve my thoughts well thanks for replying after 59 views lol anyone have anymore thoughtS?
why don't you find out for yourself? it's there for you to use, personally i dislike wilson racquets.
umm, yea, wenever i sign up for forums, i usually dont put my real age, i just put random age in... hop it doesnt confuse anyone and u asked why dont i use it for myself?? well because im on march break, and i havnt playd since i broke my old racket, which was at the beginig at march break.. so im going on monday to try it... im just asking you guys what u think... geez u kinda snapped at me, but whatever
Same here, I tried a friend's wilson racquet and it was just unpowerful-too heavy and unresponsive. Mehh check out my thread-friend snapped the wilson shaft!!
didn't mean to offend you, but it's different for everyone, some people hit harder with flexy racquets, some hit harder with stiffer racquets. diff perferences = diff answers, best thing is to find out YOUR preferences by trying out the racquet yourself, seems kinda pointless to ask a whole bunch of people that most likely don't own the racquet for their opinion when you can just simply find out yourself.
ok well im just asking for different peoples prospectives before i actually try it out in 5 days. well anyways wenever i do try it out.. (5 days lol) ill just update this thread tell u how it went.. hopfully well thanks all cya
i own a wilson v10, first time i used it i couldent get any power out of it, you would be better off getting another carlton or a low end yonex.
damn are u serious... well im gunna try it, and if i dont like it.. ill prolly bring it back and get a different kind
when i tried it i was a beginner so if you use proper technique you might be able to get power out of it.
I tried it after I learned to hit and it has some of the ickiest strings in the world. Truthfully, I'm not a fan of super low range rackets, even for beginners. I think they promotes bad habits such as overswinging and things that can promote carpal tunnel. Of course that is just my opinion. One of the first things you'd probably want to do is change the strings on the racket, especially default ones with low end rackets because they take a lot from your control. It is also imo the best cost to preformance ratio fix you can do.
ok well, i might just change the strings on it also... how much do you think som powerful strings are,,, canadian, around?? thanks alot
well i used it today, it felt i could get alot of control with it.... as far as smashing i thought it was alright... im thinking of restringing it to nice tight stings to really get the zip out of it, you know what i mean. but anyways i was easily hitting it from my back court to out of bounds on the other side... and im not a big guy... so i think it was a good buy for 40$ candian thanks all
Here's my 2 cents, if you feel you have improved your style of game then you should go for a racket that is more expensive than a Wilson, ( there quite cheap) this is because it will last longer and having a more $$ racket never hurts. Also, why put 20$ strings on a cheap racket, seems quite pointless, as it won't help much and your throwing extra money away. Btw, which part of Canada are you from? I'm 15 myself and am from Ontario.
well, i just finished a tournament today. i finished 4th, which is pretty good for me. my smashes were on, and i had a good court vision... i would always go side to side it was a 2 game knockout, and 15 mens singles... i came 4th, it went 15 -3 - for him lol 15-6 - for me 15- 12 for him... well it was fun and draind the juice out of me cya
