    Default NEWS : SwissOpen07 : Men's Singles

. Jakobshalle, Basel txt: Dille Andersen, WBSO Int.
    Press

All seeded Men's Singles players made it though to the next round but one!
The one was 3/4 Lee Chong Wei, MAS, who lost in three very tight games
    to Ronald Susilo, SIN, 21-19, 12-21, 21-19.
1 seed Lin Dan, CHN, beat Ville Lang, FIN, in straight games 21-15, 21-16
2 seed Chen Jin, CHN, didn't have great difficulty in beating Bjoern
Joppien, GER, also in two games 21-6, 21-10
3/4 seed Peter Gade, DEN was up against his compatriot Kasper Oedum.
Gade was the strongest in that match, clearly wanting to wash off the
huge dissapointment of last week where he lost in the first round of the
All England, to Dicky Palyama, NED. The all Danish clash ended in favour
    of Gade 21-12, 21-14.
5/8 seed Kenneth Jonassen, DEN, beat Ayob Sairol Amar, MAS (pictured)
24-22, 22-20 in a very entertaining match with full steam ahead all the
way! The play at the net were the final factor making it the day for
    Jonassen.
5/8 seed Bao Chunlai, CHN, had to invest 3 games and 65 minutes before
he had beatenBoonsak Ponsana, THA, 13-21, 21-19, 21-18.
5/8 seed Chen Yu, CHN, runnerup last week at the All England beat Eric
    Pang, NED, 21-18, 21-17.

    Other selected Men's Singles:
Dicky Palyama, NED, who last week created one of the biggest upsets at
the All England by beating number 3/4 seed Peter Gade, DEN, was today up
against Lee Tsuen Seng, MAS. The Dutch lost 13-21 in the first game but
was really sharp in the second. Everythinh he did was succesful, often
leading Lee to make the mistakes.
In the third and decisive game things turned around again. Palyama
seemed emptied for the powers that carried him through the second game,
and he lost the match 13-21, 21-18, 7-21 in 56 minutes.

We're seeing LCW decline more and more. His performance so far this year has been horrendous, I don't even remember an instant in these super series that he reached a semi-final. Perhaps his peak was last year?

LCW has been going thru' a stormy ride for the last few months...hmmm....his exit is getting faster as the SS progresses. Must be feeling very down. Hope he will pick himself up again before his confidence is totally dented. Get up LCW.....

    Bao Chunlai is doing horrendously.
His attacks lacks sting and hes supposed to be an offensive player.

LCW's form is going down hill. So far dont see any sign of capable of coming back. MAS should seriously looking at their single department. There have been lacking of players coming up. MAS cant rely on LCW forever. Infact its not right to rely on just one player as he may has all the burden on himself which could have negative psycological effect. Its sad to see LCW losing his form. Well anyway MAS has never produced any dominat good single player. I guess the "tradition" continues.

Earnestly speaking, i have never seen any MS Players in Malaysia who really achieved to the top & then said "retired" or the end of their career. Mostly is gradually dissappeared ... after win for a certain period, then eventually went down. Chen Hong is worth remembering. Although he has officially retired, but his contribution to the country will be always in people's mind. He is one of those who honorably retired from assigned duties and retaining his title as one of famous Players in the world.

So, BCL and LCW are of the same mould, need the "shrink" treatment.

A waste of such talent, BCL is the closest I have seen with natural talent compared to the great Zhao Jianhua. Whereas LD is all about speed and fitness, like robot ....

The problem is there are no any other capable players than LCW can mas rely on..We are not like China, except LD,they have CJ,CY and BCL...But for mas,we can only rely on him for this few years.Hopefully there are some new blood in MS for Malaysia..

I see Tan Chun Seang as one. Dunno y he isnt playing. But he still need a lot of improvement. He is not bad though. Malaysia tend to scared to take risk. If can, they will not choose back up or new players. They will use back old players.

I presume Malaysia apply this theory :

    (1) One MS LCW to reign the whole tournament
    (2) One WS WMC to reign the whole tournament
    (3) Latest One MD KKK & TBH to reign the whole tournament, before this was CTF & LWW
    (4) One WD WPT & CYH to reign the whole tournament
    (5) One XD KKK & WPT to reign the whole tournament

Hahahaha (it is meant to be a joke only ok) .. . .. . .STRESS UP

Not only vs. LD but since All England, he always played rubber games although his opponent wasn't top-shuttlers. Probably, Sony will take benefit from unstable BCL this time.

Like AE last week, again 1st round surprising was happened! LCW, something problem w/ his confidence and all his supporters here are extremely desperate. Too many pressure for him?!Hmm need more time to bounce back, let's see in upcoming Asian Continental Champ next April what's going on to him.
