ST. Jakobshalle, Basel txt: Dille Andersen, WBSO,Int.Press photo: topbadminton.com The Women's final was a all-Chinese matter between the number one seed of the event, Zhang Ning and 5/8 seed Lu Lan. It was Lu Lan who got off to the better start, keeping a 3-point lead through the first half of the first game. But Zhang equalized to 9-9. None of the players got a clean break; they took turn in scoring a couple of points at a time. AT 16-13 Zhang didn't let go of her grip and she took the first game 21-16 Both players are fantastic net players with Zhang as the better part of making a decisive shuttle by the net. She very often just stands there, like a bird of prey, and then - bang! At 20-16 Zhang had her game point. The second game was almost a replica of the first, both playing fast and with good variation of shots. Zhang Ning was ahead from the beginng of the game. She stayed on top, won the second game and thereby the match. She had the first match point at 20-16 and the following shot from Lu was decided in. But Zhang Ning kept her seeding as number one, and is the 2007 WBSO Women's Singles winner.
