Rudy Hartono won his first All England singles title in 1968 at the age of 18/19 years old.

Rudy was 19 when he won the ALL-England. So I think Boon Heong shares it with Rudy.

Actually Rudy was 18 because he won All England in 1968 for the first time. Rudy's date of birth is 18 August 1949. The All England I presumed was held before 18 August in 1968 which makes Rudy 18 years old when he won.

if i am not wrong, Rudy Hartono won the AE at 17/18. taufik was the only one who came close to being able to claim the title as the youngest winner. but, he lost the finals to Peter Gade.

Razif/Jalani Sidek won All England at age 19+ and 18+ in 1982. Razif was born on 29 May 62, Jalani on 10 Nov 63.

So TBH is not the youngest AE MD winner.

i am sorry to all Tan Boon Heong fans. He apparently isn't the youngest anything to win the AE. He din manage to set any record this time. But, some day he might set one though not in the AE. Maybe, this year's World Championship?

I think almost more impressive would be being the oldest to win such tournaments... it seems hard to have much staying power in the pro badminton world!
