it's possible that yonex could void your warranty if it's strung above the recommended tension. but i've known people who have successfully had their racquets replaced when strung at 26 to 28lbs, of course the racquets didn't break due to clashes. however, these are UK coded racquets though, i don't know if the same goes for singapore.
just don't tell the yonex-guy it was strung that high...if the racket broke there's a big chance he won't be able to tell what the tension was...
Yes, but I think its good to be honest at all times.. but if they dont ask.. then fine Anyway ..IF theyargue the warranty would be void if you strung it 3lbs above (their ridicilously low ) recommended tension.. You should of course raise the question why Yonex stubbornly have so low recommended tensions compared to their competition!!! /Twobeer
yeah, make them commit to higher recommended tensions, 18-22lbs for the top end racquets is ridiculous! especially since the pros string em up to 35lbs ...
I didn't say you should "lie" I merely advised not to say stuff like: "hi, sir, coudl you help me, I broke my racket, do I get a warranty?" -"what happened?" "notthing, it just snapped on a shot, it was only strung at 26lbs though" -"err...."
No, it should be. "What happened?" "I'm not sure, it just broke on a shot." "What tension was it?" "I don't know, stringers are so inconsistant these days." Not lying, just not answering the question XD.
In theory, once the tension is over the limit, your warranty is gone. However, whether they can actually determine to what accuracy (especially after the breakage), I have no idea.
presumably they have professional stringers in there who would be able to estimate what the string tension was when it broke, +/- 2lbs perhaps. so if it's 28 or 30lbs, i would think it'd be pretty clear it was over the recommended tension.
depends on the break... if your racket collapsed totally (breaking in 1 point, but the head just "shatters" into 8 pieces) they'll doubt you strung it at 24lbs if your racket breaks, but is still slightly in it's original shape the seller can do a sound-check on the strings... ideally your racket should break enough to not be able to sense the tension, but not a total collapse either way, yonex themselves never stated the 'you can string 3lbs over out recommendation'...the reason why should be obvious
