I am told my racket is 22-24. Is there a way i can test it to see what tension it is without taking it somewhere? I do not know tensions very well by feeling them alone, so is there any tricks of the trade to test tension?

Hmm, easiest way would probably be to let somebody who is experienced with different tensions to hit with it a bit. Depending on the string nd racket, it's usually not too hard to guess the tension. Find somebody who is comfortable playing with your string type at a higher tension and let them hit, if they think it feels icky, then it's probably in that range.

hrm.. alright thanks. I guess there is no other way to tell eh? Like some magical way like dropping a penny on the string and seeing how far it bounces? lol

Not really since the repulsion of each string is different not to mention racket head material. What you can do though is find a seasoned stringer and they can often times just hit their palm and get a feel for it.

yup, nothing beats experience, most of these guys can tell roughly what the tension is just by hitting it or applying some pressure. why so desperate to know anyways?

These are from observations just after a restring at my usual shop (Tad's). I've compared about 10 restrings ranging from 22lbs-26lbs. I hit my kneecap with the strings and compare it to a piano. Stringing withBG65,68Ti,80,85 doesn't seem to vary much. I've got oval, iso, and Prince Y-joint and that doesn't change significantly either.

    BG80 @ 24lbs = high C
Add or subtract roughly 1lb per tone change.

u forgot to take into consideration of:

    air temp
    air humidity
if u r wearing a pant or not and of what fabric type
ur knee cap condition as it degrades with time
the speed u struck your kneecap
    type of string used
