My understanding is that, unfortunately, Raju Rai will not be able to partcipate this year. I believe he is recovering from some kind of knee injury... He is really a good player... Hope he could return next year.

Kwun... I didn't realize there is already this thread:
    http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41798
Feel free to merge these two. Sorry...

Looking quickly at the draws, i'm just going to give my predictions on who will be the Semifinalists in each events. Some of these players & pairs have equal chances of reaching the Finals(based on what i've seen and as i haven't seen the others play before. Of course with injuries and/or last minute pull-outs not taken into consideration):

MS - Eric Go or Howard Bach vs. A. Todt or N. Jinadasa(Upper half)
    A. Setiadi vs. B. Malaythong(Lower half)

WS - Eva Lee or L. Todt vs. Johanna Lee(Upper half)
Lili Zhou vs. J. Subandhi(Lower half)

    MD - B.Malaythong & H. Bach vs. S. Wong & J. Shu(Upper half)
    H. Shu & S. Fujinami or C. Lun/S. Jonatan vs. A. Setiadi/B. Chen vs. A. Todt & N. Jinadasa(Lower half)

    WD - M. Mangkalakiri & E. Lee vs. D. Ng & Lili Zhou(Upper half)
    Panita & Vimla Phongasavithas vs. L. Todt & A. De Pauw or J. Lee & G. Peng(Lower half)

    XD - Eva Lee & H. Bach vs. A. De Pauw & A. Setiadi(Upper half)
    L. Zhou & T. Shear vs. G. Peng & N. Jinadasa or M. Mangkalakiri & B. Malaythong(Lower half)

Should be lots of fun and quite entertaining.
See you guys or anyone else later this weekend..

More than half of MS players are from the development squads

I am really glad to see so many Jr Players stepping up to the plate this year to participate in this year Adult National. That is why you guys can see the 64 draw which has never happened in the prior years.

Obviously these young lads are there for the experience and not expecting to win and hopefully build their confidence. In any case, it is a good sign that there are more participations in the national tournament year after year. I also suspect that once the foreign players gain their US residence/citizen status there will be even more in the coming years...and more interesting and challenging... one way to boost this sport in USA... go USA Badminton!

    Yes, it's definitely very good...

..and they're definitely the future:cool:..although, i wonder if those BYE slots will be somewhat filled in-as i see there are abt 24 slots open, a bit less than 1/3 of competition;) ..Btw, the 64 draw only applies to the MS event whilst there are only 16 pairs in the WD event(could be more, IMO)..

Couldn't agree with you more... There must be something that could be done to promote Badminton in the Women's section.

Yup Phillip Chew is playing and so his Double Partner, Andrew Susanto. They just play to gain experience ..... There is also Cee Ketpura who is only 14 years of age. But dont be mislead by their age ....some of them are really good already even at young age....
dont judge the book by its cover ....

Phillip and his partner are actually Under-15 category this year. They're growing up very fast before our own eyes... so, yes.. these are perhaps the future generations of US players. So don't blink!
