So does anyone other than me think that grips that the factory puts on their rackets are horrible? To me, it seems that their slippery, and ones i hate the most are Black Knight and SOTX ones, they have those bumps which i hate and even after two overgrips on my SOTX Woven 8, i can still feel those stupid bumps. Although some people really like that kinda grip, they shouldn't make them the factory ones as some people really don't like them and that makes the owner either taking off the grip and putting on a reaplacement grip or putting on two plus overgrips. So what are your inputs on Factory grips on rackets, and what do you think can be improved about them? state the racket brand too.

I agree, the yonex original grip is very slippery when wet i find and dosent "feel right". Also, if you dont like the bumps then you could just take off the original grip and put overgrip on.

That's what i was planing to do, but then i'd have to put even more layers of overgrip on it, so i just put two overgrips on and i guess i can live with little bumps :p

If the bumps are making you play worse in any way then you should take it off, and just put one or two thick overgrips on your racket, then the grip you like best. But if it dosent bother you too much, then leave it.

Factory grips are brilliant. These are very good for protecting the wood when a replacement grip goes on top. In this arrangement, the factory grip futher aids shock dampening.

I likes the plastic wrap around my original grip so much I never took it off. I just put an overgrip on top of it. This way, I can always sell if and say I still have the original plastic on it! :)

For SOTX grip what you can do is take a knife and break all the threads so you don't hav ne of the ridges anymore, then regrip it. I've done that with my woven-8 and it feels fine, thought I do add 2 more prince grips on top.

Have to agree with CD here. I usually keep the factory grip in place and add an overgrip unless the factory grip is just too big. Then I'll remove the factory grip and add two overgrips.

Yep, that's what I do to all my SOTX grips. It's a bit tedious but the results are good.

yeah, it depends a lot on the model and make of the racquet. even with some Yonex racquets, i've found certain ones (the nanospeeds) to have nicer factory grips than others (the armortecs). but that's just my personal preference.

There's no grip can be "liked" by everyone. Therefore, they have to put on something, right? It just happened to be you don't like it. I do know some local individuals looking hard to get the "bridged" type of grips, to put on their Yonex ones. ;)

It's just a matter of preference.

It's not that hard to find them, Black Knight has a line of them that can be found at even major sports chains, but Black Knight is Canadian based i think so they'll might have to order online

In US (at least, east coast), most of the major sports chains do not carry badminton equipment. Therefore, ordering online is the only option for most of the locals.

if you knów the factory grip is ribbed, or not smooth in general...ask the seller, he'll probably be more than happy to add a replacementgrip for $2 or so...(I'd be at least...)

for my own stuff, I cut away the rib, or just use 2-3 overgrips..

i always take off the original grip, wrap scotch tape over the wood and onto the cone, then put my towel grip ontop of that. Sometimes i would put a layer of overgrip under the towel grip depending on how thin and hard the towel grip is. The scotch tape makes removal of the towel grip relatively easy and protects the wood and the paint on the cone from being damaged when removing the grip.

My old Wilson Hyperhammer 85 had some nice factory grip so that I didn't need to change it. My current yonex AT-250 doesn't have too good of a factory grip. I'll probably have to change it soon before a game.

hehe i got lucky with my Black Knight PC-V85 it came with the Rad Grip Replacement grip instead of the regular competition grip, the bumps are almost at the same elevation as the sides parallel to it. Feels as flat as yonex original grips but a wack tackier. However i can't get over how fat BK make their handles, their M (medium) size can be rated G2 or over in Yonex standard

Black knight grips with the big bumps are good
    not the small bumps :D
The yonex big bumps grips are also good =) even better
(because they are yonex? NO) it just has a better
    comfort :) hmm
UNIQUE grips are like the best man
its kinda sticky but also soft, so your hand doesnt
    have any blisters =)
