By tape shot I mean the shuttle hits the tape and goes over to the opponent's side. It depends on luck, but recently I seem to hit tape shots more often on my drop shots, net shots and smashes. I'd say I average 0.7~1 tape shot per game. How about you?

personally I hit quite a lot of tape shots when performing an aggresive backhand drive....

By that I mean a drive in front of me, around waist height or a bit higher to a back corner in doubles... it's a bit specific but with these shots i seem to hit tape lots! which is great, means i'm aiming it very close to the net for an ideal shot but also when it hits the tape it throws the opponent off too!

I had a lucky evening a year back, doing some lob/drop drills. My friend got frustrated at #3 (you know, when you hit a dropshot from the backcourt and it just hops on the net and goes over)

I did it 13 times in an evening....

a more frustrating note (for me) was I served 8 short serves too short because it clipped the net in a match...It's soo frustrating to hit your serve so tight it clips, and fails:(...

i remember that i had 4 straight 'tape points' in a match... however, the following game, the luck was against me, my reverse slice drop shots just didn't tumble to my opponents side of the net... that cost me around 4-6 pts in the second game.. good thing i recovered just in time.. lol

it just depends on luck. no such thing as we aiming at the net tape everytime. if we are lucky, the shuttle will roll over.

yeah...i learned that the hard way... i think that somehow, there such thing as aiming at the net tape... during drops, i actually aim for the top of the net or as close to the net as possible.. although it's a risk...

i've had some crazy net exchanges with several drops hitting the tape, falling over, then coming back via hitting the tape again

    Dunno. Maybe 3 times a game of 21 (1x21)
If im lucky, my smashes might hit the tape
more than once in a rally. I really focus on hitting near the tape.

I remember hitting three net clippers in a row in one doubles match, with the last one being a frame-hitting smash as well. There's one particular friend of mine who seems to take great offence whenever this happens for me, and on that occasion he went absolutely mental, despite my profession of "I didn't do it on purpose!"

"If I could do it on purpose, I'd do it on every shot..." I added, mentally:D

I can relate to that bit. Sometimes I have struck the perfect serve but the tape put the angle off and my shuttle falls short.

People tell me that my downward shots fly very close to the net. My tape shots are almost exclusively from smashes and then they roll over the net to the opponent's disgust.

At least the opponent is nowhere near reaching my shot. What I truly hate is when that happens in return to me but I am already standing half a step away from the net and I still can't get it -- it's so frustrating when opponents can hit the tape on a dropshot!! Nuts! :(

The most I had was 8 net rollovers in one game, all on serve returns.
I find that if practicing enough tight net drops, the advantage of net rollovers will increase. So keep practicing:D :D :D
With the new 21 point system, every net rollover is one point.:D
This can really frustrate your opponents game and concentration.

i don't understand why people get frustrated by receiving tape shots. as far as i'm concerned, it's part of the game you can't avoid.

indeed. who says tape shots can't be returned? :D i once killed a hard tape shot lol.
anyway i like my tape shots that CHANGE DIRECTION after hitting the tape. it happens when shuttle contacts the tape at an angle...seem to be doing more of those lately...
