If we ignore price and durability, what is the best string in your opinion ? I personally would choose Ashaway MicroLegend.
BG85 by far!!! Strung at 25lbs... Though I am trying the BG68Ti right now at 23lbs... a bit more power but control is gone.. I will try 25lbs next time..
The regular one, as the XL version is not available in HK (in fact, the regular MicroLegend is not very easy to find as well). I found MicroLegend gives similar feel as BG85, i.e. a very powerful string with relatively soft feel. BG66 may be a bit more powerful but I found that it lost tension more quickly. Besides difficult to find, the primary problem for MicroLegend is its price - it is about double of either BG85 or BG66 !
I will definitely choose the BG-88 Ti. One heck of a string! They are holding well on my Ti-10 CP and MP-100 CP, both at 30 lbs.
thanks pete, i was getting a little worried there that no one had mentioned the 88 ti. don't other people like it ? clive
i like mine too. very good for touch shots. just a little bit less feel than bg85. however, once you get used to it, the extra friction provided by the surface is great. i feel that i can generate more power on this string than bg85. the sound is also much louder. this string reminds me more of bg80, but with better power and better friction. the only downside is that it is expensive and hard to find.
hmmm... what guage is the string ? I remember seeing this string while in Japan recently, but when I looked at the characteristics on the back, it wasn't very impressive, so I choose the BG68Ti which I thought was more closely related to the BG85 (BG66 maybe) cuz they didn't have any 85 there... 30lbs... wow, I thought my strings were tight at 25lbs!!!

bg68ti isn't that impressive IMHO. too slippery, not much power, not much control, loses tension. the ratings from yonex seems rather bogus. the bg88ti is rated at lower repulsion than bg85, but i found otherwise. bg85 is still the safest bet though.
In my opinion, BG80 is a compromise of BG85 which provides better durability. However, as our game rule is to ignore price and durability, I think BG80 has no chance to be called as the "best string".
I find that I really like plain old BG-65 the best. It's the most common string yet it gives me a lot of power and decent control.
I don;t really cares but I like Bg-68ti, and Bg-80,Bg-85 , they both good strings! mind you they were only a few dollars different (Hong Kong dollars) in Hong Kong I you that u can buy a pack pof top Yonex strings at hk$31 per pack(Bg-68ti,Bg-85) Bg-80 at $29 per pack BG-70 pro at $27 per pack BG-65 Ti at $26 per pack BG-65 at $23 per pack
