Am I an offensive player or defensive player??

    I like to:

    -make person run (singles)
-smash when i feel like it

    sounds like defensive

offensive person would not "like" to do all of those just to make the other person run, but would rather to help setup for the kill

but you must describe more to be sure

More description and situations please. I think you are a more all around player, if you dont smash often, then moreso defensive.

Defensive imo, especially if that is the case of playing doubles. Back to back clears are seldom used in a competitive game, even drops.
Aggressive player will smash or drive whenever they are in position.

Single is different though. But how do you define “make people run”? I make people run when I face weak players, and people make me run when I face strong players.

    you sound like a....badminton player...;)

seriously, I don't think offsensive/defensive matters which shots you do (clears can be offensive or defensive, same for the moving around bit) but more when/where you do them, also footwork is different..

I also think a player should limit himself to this black&white picture..in any match the balance of offense-defense shifts a lot...

hmm well i sometimes clear it back or most of time i just drop it when a clear is given to me
if someone drops and i'm ready for it..i just drop it back until the person clears it back..when i'm not ready i just lift it
    when they drive..i net shot...

    ok heres a simple test:

tell your friend to record all of your strokes within a full match against a player slightly weaker than you (get someone ur familiar with)

tally them up and see which strokes you used the most

for defensive players, their number of smashes should go up as the opponent is slightly weaker, however a bada$$ smasher would go wild killing that bird even from the baseline

Moreso a defensive player if you are referring to doubles.
