Hey guys, this is something I've always wanted to ask fellow badminton fanatics....

Do you find that you use your footwork skills in everyday situations???

    Examples:

When walking down busy streets needing to dodge people I end up doing a split step then forward step (as if moving to forehand net shot) to dodge people... Especially if i need to dodge people quickly!!

I find this really funny, perhaps a little disturbing and odd!

Another one, when I move about my flat at uni (eg my room to the kitchen) i will use footwork to get there quickly and efficiently when I'm rushing through to make my cuppa tea!!

I do it automatically aswell haha... no way to prevent the badminton taking over!

Absolutely - chasse steps v useful in the kitchen (fridge to cooker and back again etc.). In the bedroom of course it's the forehand lunge that I find particularly useful...:)

its just something with wii tennis, the computer likes to force you into using the fore/back hand that is more likely hit the ball out of court when intercepting net shot

this is also something i've been wanting to ask .....i realise i throw rubbish into rubbish bins always with right foot ending, sometimes i even stretch a lot forward on the last step....lol

sometimes i also think that badminton footwork help me keep my balance and prevent falls in some cases...wonder if it's just my imagination..haha

I used to switch on/off lights in my home pretending doing the net drop. Both backhand and forehand moves.

my badminton footwork had safe me couple of times when crossing the road!
I have experienced a few times steping into the road without realising speedy cars approaching, and spontaneously I reacted the same way as anticipating for a smash - a slight hop and a side step back to the footpath! It works like magic lol..:D
