Hi, I've been playing badminton for quite some time now, recently starting to take it seriously. I've really began to love badminton and seeing myself playing it for years to come. So I've been taking my racket's to get strung by local stores and the money I have to dish out for it is just too much for me to handle. So I would like to pick up stringing. Now I'm a complete newbie to it and I need loads of your help:) . If anyone can help me start from scratch it would be greatly appreciated by me. Questions I have range from how do I start, to what machine I should get and what parts I need. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The machine is depend on your budget and needs. But if you need a stringing lesson and you're not too far from me(assume you're at Toronto), maybe I can give you a free demostration session. ;)

thanks guys, but my schedule is really busy and stuff with school and all the things going around. If i have the instructions on paper with some pictures I should get good. my budget isn't too big, and the Klippermate machine seems to be pretty cheap, but is it good? btw, where are you in Toronto, If I really do need a leson, i can get a hold of you

Many BCBF members uses Klippermate (including me) and it is a well build machine with good instruction. However, there is no sub for being there and seeing someone string a racquet in person. If you can spare 2 hr, I will take up Wong8egg's offer and see learn some trick. Also there are many post in the string ing form you can read from to get more info and trick on stringing.

I'm talking about the Klippermate M140. Would this machine be good for a beginner and onward? I tend to string at 24-28 tops. For those Canadians, how much did you all end up paying with shipping and taxes. and any other stringing machines that are good with a low price tag?

If you string 28 + lbs, get the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus or the Alpha ShuttleExpress.

I am ordering the DC Plus :D. Mark from Alpha has two ShuttleExpress left in inventory, at USD375 before shipping.

Make sure you get the HiQua or Yonex flying clamp. Since you are a newbie, I will advice you not going any higher than 24lb for the first 10 racquets. Also it is very dangerous to string higher than 26lb on 2 pt machine without extensive experience.

If you want to see a demo session i can offer you one as well (downtown toronto), but you may want to bring a pillow cause you may fall asleep...and if you were to see Pete LSD string, you should also bring a blanket, pajamas, nite cap and your favorite stuffed animal :D

If Sir Peter strung my rackets, I would never play with them. I would frame the rackets and declare them works of art. :D ...:p

    Wow, didn't realize...

..Pete_LSD is very meticulous with his stringing..:p ;) Or maybe he gets distracted and logs in on BC forum while stringing (yeah, i've seen Pete_LSD logged in BC forum in the middle of the night, like 2 or 3 or 4am).. :p  :D ;)

Nothing special about my string job, Master Kelvin. Master Howard, the Sith Lord, can fill you in the boring details :D. In fact, he was about to write a thorough report . . .
