Thursday night, I was a little more on experiment mode. The idea is that new Yonex racqets has 21 cross vs older model has 22 cross. I was stringing a NS9k-s and I decided to cut a 9m string from a reel and see if I can string it with just 9m. I was able to string the NS9k-s with just 9m (22 main and 21 cross w/ 22X24lb). Just made it with 10cm to spare on drop weight machine. I string the mains first without cutting the 9m string. After I finished the mains, I cut it and start the cross. I did not pre-weave the racquet. I for the fellow stringers out there, can any one give a try and verify my result. I just want to make sure my measurement is not off. Thanks and have a nice weekend.

I'm using about 28 feet (8.53m) at the moment for 22x22 4 knots or 28.5 feet (8.70m) for lower tensions or less stretchy string 7 foot 6 inches (2.29m) for the short side mains (or a bit less sometimes, 7'4" ) don't cut until after mains are done. starting knot at the top, so not much wasted there usually have enough left to have done an extra cross
drop-weight + starting clamp for the last mains. The only close calls have been on the short side main, but I haven't come up short yet. And if you did, it wouldn't take long to redo the mains
I have all the respect for Neil and Pete, I have no doubt about his post. In fact he used starting clamp for last main shows he know what he is doing. Unlike some other people who has no idea about stringing does not know the total length for 22X23 pattern on a oval racquet is about 8.95m and there is no way you can tide off with a 9m string.
I never knew the totally length to be used. I only use single packs (10 m), and never measure the remains... :crying: :crying: :crying:
I used my favorite tool, dental floss. I weaved the cab30ms and pull the floss. Pull off the floss after weaving and measured it. It is cheaper to use the dental floss than a pack of new string.
Anything is possible if you know how. A little thinking can do wonders. The solution doesn't depend on the string, rather it depends on a mind capable of optimisation. See it as a puzzle. Have fun finding the solution.
That is correct. It also doesn not take the thickness of string into account. I thought these 2 factors roughly canceled out each other.
