Since I just broke one of my racket, so maybe I'll decide to buy SOTX rackets. Any recommandation?? How is the Woven 12??
If you're going to get the woven 12, why not spend a little more money and upgrade to the woven 16? Woven 16 is a very very very nice racket.
In that price category I think the w13 is "better" than the w12...it's extra weight/length and headheavyness really give it a more solid Bang. But that's personal..
I find all Woven series rackets are pretty good and that you can't go wrong with them, however, if you gave us your playing style and if you play singles or doubles, it would help us give you a recomendation better
SOTX 2007 Range Going through the Sotx 2007 catalogue that Jerry kindly posted on the forum, it looks like they're coming out with updated version of their wovens, the "i's" - W7i, W11i etc. The 7i is the extra stiff version of the 7 (according to Jerry and Dink), but what about the others? What modifications have they made to the rest of them - W11i etc?
For that price you might wanna try the lower end SOTX such as the woven 3 and below models....or maybe the LG or Jedi models....selected lower end models.
I have 2 Diamond Fighter D900, 1 D600 and 1 Woven 7. I find the D900 to be the best racket I have ever used. It really suits my style of play - 50:50 attack:defence. The feel of the racket upon impact with the shuttlecock is very nice and the sound produced is also very pleasing. The control is very good and power-wise is better than Yonex AT700 and MP100 (personal opinion). I have used many top end Yonex rackets before and now I am a fully converted SOTX user
can someboday please post the link to the sotx catalogue?.. i can't find it... thanks for the help....
for 2007 some wovens get an i (extra stiff, Dan reckoned) and some get an L. like the woven 5L going from the original 670mm to 675mm. the w11i and w7i are just a little lighter. Though from my very limited experience with the w7i, it was a 'better' racket. it had more feel to it... I kinda forgot where I posted the catalog...sorry
What's so special about Woven 16? I'm holding one in my hands right now, let me tell you more. Well, for starter, it about $300.00, the frame is solid inside(not hollow like most rackets), made of the highest carbon/glass fiber from frame to shaft. The frame is very strong, can hold 35lbs string tension easily. The shaft is very stiff and the balance is perfect. Smashing is very easy and very powerful. I was surprised how light the racket feels. The factory grip is thick, soft and very comfortable to hold. Paint and graphics is very simple, few words, the woven graphite is visible clearly from top to bottom of the shaft. Worth every penny! Very, very, very nice overall.
Well, a retail Yonex AT-900 costs $229.00 retail price, not so ridiculous. The AT Limited Edition is around $300.00 too, I think. Hey, you get what you pay for. If a $300.00 racket can make a difference between winning or losing a game, I would get 3 of them.
