Has any one played or restrung their rackets with ASHAWAYS Zyex X-1294
I Recently have been given some to test
They have told me to string 17% to 20% lower then normal tensions.
I remember when Bow Band used Zyex, they never got it right
Ashaway say its the nearest that synthetics have got to match gut in performance.
    Any feedback

Not been released yet for people to buy i'm afraid.I was given a couple of samples from Ashaway UK to test and give them back some feedback. But it wont be long before its available to buy.I think they are hoping it will help them to reduce the gauge down to 0.65mm one day.(A dicky bird tells me)

Some info i found on zyex Ashaway strings

Recently, Zyex Ltd. Measured the tension of Zyex strung racquets that have had little, if any, playing time over many years. They discovered that racquets strung with Zyex as long as 15 years ago still had almost the same tension.

Zyex does not lose tension as quickly as nylon, nor gut for that matter, so the racquet has to be strung at 10-15 % less initial tension to achieve the desired result at playing time. When nylon or gut is strung into a racquet, it loses up to a quarter of its original stringing tension. Players who mistakenly have their racquets strung at tensions appropriate for gut of nylon will get a racquet that is much tighter, and much less satisfying to play with

In theory it can work in badminton but current manufacturing technology is not capable of making microfilaments that are thin enough.

It was talked about in another thread, it was called "nanogut x". But when they release it they said they doubt they would call it "nanogut x" because these days the term "nano" is being overused in badminton equipment, which is true.

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Ashaway and they are sending me the latest variation of the zyex string code name X-1709. Ashaway referred to the string as "new zyex string" (NZS) and not NanoGut X, what they called the string in the past.

The NZS will be, "thin, light and very strong. It can be strung at high tensions."

I e-mailed Ashaway to get clarification on the name and am waiting for a response.

    Any ideas for a name?

    Zy-Gut
    Z-Gut
    X-Gut
    Ex-Gut

Will post more as I know it...

Received a reply from Ashaway. They are not going to name the string until it's finalized. They don't plan to use "nano" in the name and will try to use the zyex name in some form.
