Have been going to watch the games these past 3 days and just can't
help getting a good laugh each time this linesman is on duty.

He will sit on his chair very attentively and does not look anywhere
else except the two lines he is in charged of. Occasionally, he'll scratch his head and when his call of duty comes... he'll shout
"OUTTTTTTTT" so loudly with his hands wide open signalling the
shuttle went out of court until you could hear it even if you were just
    entering the stadium...

Mine... this chap is just funny! Many a times, his action will draw
laughter and applause of encouragement from the crowd...

    Must see to believe!

Surely get my vote for "Linesman Of the Game" if there was one...

I would like to see him...

..make one of those "on-the-line", questionable, 50-50 calls..I want to know his reaction, to an extent the players' reactions, and what he'd call in those situations..and if he's able to belt out those "OUT" & "IN" calls w/ease..:p ;)

Yeah! He's the most attentive and most desicive with his calls.

Remembered there was this young little lady who used her hands to cover
her face when she could not have a call!!! Man... what was that? Terrible!

Today is the last day and I'm all out waiting for the Linesman Of The Games!
Let's all cheer for him whenever he makes the out call man!!! Yeah!

this year alot of controversial calls...
i think most of the linesman wearing specs... the past few days, all the singles also got some problems with the calls..
i think the linesman did not do their duty well but instead watching at the match also;)

jermaine : i agree! that game with peter gade and chen yu - the girl called out wrongly. the recording showed that it was out and she called in. and i think another shot was in, but was called out. *shakes head*

Same problem with TG/CW vs Fu/Cai game 1 n SF. One serve from CHN was short and serving judge called it IN, both Tony and Candra were puzzled but the umpire didn't see it and had to go with the serving judge. Bad call!

Believe it was the line judge watching the service line who called it in. The 'service fault' judge explained to Candra she didnt see whether the service was short of the service line. Was wondering why the line judge was not seated next to the 'service fault' judge but was seated futher away

For those who had been to past Singapore opens, you would have noticed that the linesmen used in the semi-finals and finals were qualified umpires from Singapore. This year the linesmen were picked from the team of volunteers who went through only 2-3 days of training which explains the numerous controversial calls.
