Maximum tension???

Hi, was just wondering if anyone had any idea what the maximum tension on certain strings are likely to be? I'm currently stringing with BG65 and stringing at 26lbs, I know I can string a little higher, but don't want to push the limit. I've heard players like Lin Dan, string at something like 36lbs! whether that's true or not I don't know. Can anyone clarify this and also the original question? Thanks.

i wouldn't worry about the maximum tension of the string. they all have limit over at least 40lbs. your racket will break before the string does.

I string all my racquets to 30lbs on bg-80, bg-68ti

I agree. All the strings (from reputable manufactures) can take 35+ lbs for sure. Whether your racket frame and/or your shoulder can handle it, that's another story.

Also, even if the string and frame can take be strung at max tension, what is the point when it just break on first serve?

31 lbs X 34.1 lbs or 32 lbs X 35.2 lbs drop weight tension. Every string is pulled at least twice depending on the string in question.

Thanks for the advice. I suppose I should haev said 'What's the maximum SAFE tension' that can be achieved. I just wanted to know so that I won't break any strings/rackets. Thanks though for everyone's valuable advice

in that case, you need to tell us what racket you are using. all models have different tolerance. and even so, it is not black and white, the higher you string, the higher the chance that a racket will break.

all strings and rackets have a chance to break no matter what tension =P assuming you are using a two piece racket, safe bet would be 22-23 lbs and your racket should still be fine even for lower end rackets unless you get one of those cheap steel rackets that sells for like $20 or under. if u want a durable string, bg65 is always durable. all strings will eventually break. if you have a mid to high end model of rackets (USD100+), they typically can take 25 lbs easily. some can take up to 30+ (based on manufacturers words)
