Anyone has heard of Andre Kurniawan Tedjono??? I looked at this guy in Indo open...he came all the way from qualifiers!......first came Roman Spitko.....I thought this guy won't be able to handle it...then to my surprise he beat Roman Spitko....then comes Andrew Smith...this is wat makes me so happy!! I mean Andre Kurniawan is not even regarded as the Indo 4th singles cos the spot belongs to Tommy while ANdrew Smith is England no 1 and again this guy beat him.......then comes Kenneth Jonassen Danish second singles....again this guy beat him....now he is playing Chen Hong if he can beat Chen Hong and LCW then Indonesia has a bright future!!! I mean Simon Santoso is fast improving......being a 3rd single.....SOny is gaining his touch back and Taufik is unquestionable............so who is this guy?? Anyone knows about this guy???

    I was referring to..

...maybe this tournament, Indonesian National championships, 2 yrs ago...I assume that's him, but now with the added last name...It's still early, but looks like he's pretty legit as he won over Fauzi Adnan, another Pelatnas player, in MS...

    Which means..

...he's not young anymore, well, at least he's most likely over 20 yrs. old...That was 5 yrs ago and he hasn't made much marks yet, internationally, if at all..;)

Thanx for the info...Yes Indonesia now has hope...imagine

    Taufik
    Sony (getting there)
    Simon (fastly Improving)
    Tomy (doubtful but steady)
    Andre (Giant Killer)

I hope this will lead us back to the era of Alan Budikusuma, Heryanto Arbi and all

If Andre, SImon and Sony keeps improving I think Indo has the chance to win the Thomas Cup next yr and with home crowd.....

    Indonesia Iya Sih!!!!!

    Well..

..1 upset doesn't give Andre K. a nickname of "Andre the Giant Killer"..:p:);)
Don't get me wrong, it's a very good win, but reality is, the only MS player which INA have, that they can rely on, is Taufik...Until any of those other players(2 of them are pretty much veterans) start to win consistently, even start winning over Taufik, i personally would reserve any "long term" hope of them being the next ABKusuma, HArbi etc...;)

I guess u guys are right....maybe I am expecting too much for my players....we only rely on Taufik.....I hope he beat Chen Hong.....deep in my heart I really want Indonesian Badminton to go back to their glory days again........It hurts me looking at the badminton now cos we are going down in almost every department.........I do hope for the better....I mean as an Indonesian I am always proud...I will always be by the side of red n white....but we lost our dignity since Hendrawan retired.....I really hope Andre's win is not a fluke......I do hope he beat Chen Hong......but being Indo's 5th singles...beating Spitko, Smith and Jonassen is an achievement

    According to the link..

..he has had a pretty good record up til last yr:

    2002 Junior winner:
MS : Andre Kurniawan (Central Java) d Roy Purnomo (Central Java) 15-17, 15-10, 15-14

    2003 Senior winner:
    MS : Andre Kurniawan (Pelatnas) d Hariawan (Central Java) 15-9, 6-15, 15-12

    2004 Junior winner:
MS : Andre Kurniawan (Central Java) d Fauzi Adnan (East Java) 15-4, 15-4

    2005 Senior winner:
    F : Andre Kurniawan (Pelatnas) d Alamsyah (Pelatnas) 15-9, 15-11

..notice he won both as Pelatnas(Senior) and non-Pelatnas(Junior) player all 4 yrs straight...Seems like he has the potential, but until we see the same results consistently and in international competitions, the question will always be....."Is he the next Indonesian star??"..;)
