    Hi,

I have recently gone to university and taken up the wonderful sport of badminton again. i play for my college and university - so about 5-10 hrs a week.
i am looking to buy a new racket for my birthday - and am looking around the £60 mark.
I am mainly a mixed player - and being a girl stay at the front a lot.
if anyone could suggest which type of racket is best for my type of play it would be great. i have looked at the Carlton Airblade Tour racket. does anyone know if this one is any good or what would be better?

i am open to any suggestions.

hi jessie, i had an airblade tour (black & orange, model used by nathan robertson) before. its an excellent all-around racket. if you had noticed, gail emms uses a powerbalde superlite(?) & she excels in the net area...might be what youre looking for.

yonex nanospeeds are also preferred by pro female players specifically the NS9000S.

    hope this helps. goodluck!:D

Not a fan of Airblades as I broke 3 very quickly in a row, not knowing your standard of play its difficult to suggest a racquet but on price/performance terms I would consider
Ashaway Ti130 or a Karakal SL80, both about £50, both light and highly maneuverable offering enough flex to generate power should you need it.

SOTX Woven 8 just popped into my mind. ;) Used to be able to demo it for a short sessioin, seems like a good and light all around racket. ;)

STOX don’t seem to be retailed in the UK. You don’t have contact details for the manufacturer/wholesaler.

    Really?

If my memory serves me correctly, I thought at least 2 very active BFers from this forum are SOTX rep (or, used to be  ) in UK or Europe?

    Being a sotx rep (;))
The woven 6 might be what you need:
    -it's short (665mm, so fast)
    -it's headlight
    -it's light (83gram-ish)
    -it's slightly stiff

or the slightly longer (670mm) extra-stiff woven 5. Both are exellent net-play rackets!

I'd suggest a light racket for net play, so the Carlton superlite would be good or any other light carlton racket.
