Re: OT: Meat and its by-products
I've played with natural guts before - have to say long time. Guts were from Australia and China, they were hand strung on my Carltons 3.7X. Comparing them with my other racquets strung with Gosen Super Hy-Sheep the guts had much much better feeling in power or more subtle shots. Able to produce more spin (with same movement) on net shots and the now outlawed spinning serve than nylon . But playing 5/6 times a week they did not last long. I broke them usually on the second week whereas the nylon strings would last for about 2 months.
I can't say if today's nylon strings would match natural gut strings as I have not played with gut for a long time. Actually I'm playing with Yonex BG80 and BG85 and personally they are quite nice.

Viver,
Did you ever play at Deer Lake?

Zyex
From the sounds of their claims, even exceeds nylon. If what they describe is true, that looks great!
But I couldn't find any badminton strings made of the material. I checked out the Ashaway website and the Zyex website as well.

Sorry, asked before looking
Forget that last reply, unless there was any new data on the Zyex since.

Let's take this offline
VIver,
Let's link up by email. We can schedule some time in for a game. DL has been quieter lately, but still a decent size group with a few new faces, last time I went.
