Max tension??

On my racket it says tension 17-20lbs. I was wondering if the tension can go to higher tensions lets say 22-23lbs. Would it be ok or would the frame snap????

most racquets should be able to take much higher tensions than what's recommended, most of us certainly do string them that way.

It probably can.

Manufacturers often list tension limits that are far lower than the real limit for the racket.

The real limit depends on the racket, but I would be astonished if a racket could not handle 23 lbs safely.

Most top quality rackets should be able to handle 30 lbs or more, but they will be more vulnerable to stress from mishits or clashes. Higher tension inevitably increases the risk of frame breakage.

Yes, don't worry, it can. Just make sure to get your racket(s) strung by a competent stringer.

I string my Tactic rackets between 26-30lbs...depending on which model it is. So I think he was either unlucky or maybe the stringjob wasnt done correctly

it might have already been damaged before the string job, it's hard to say with these things. i would find it hard to believe that a undamaged racquet would break at such a low tension in the hands of an experienced stringer.

A racket from a reputable manufacture in good condition should handle 22lb without any problems. The breakage can be a result from many factors, and the common ones could be:

1. Stringer's fault

2. String machine needs calibration (part of stringer's fault)

3. Racket has manufacture defects

4. Racket in poor condtion (i.e. suffers bad string job, clashes before, etc)
