my friend and i were playing a game and a basketball came flying in and my friend wanted to pass it back to the guy so he hit it with his racket.... don't do that if you don't want your racket to break =p
i agree that hitting coins would be a bad idea. even if your strings doesn't burst, the person hit by the coin is bound to wallop you. (unless it kills him first, of course)
Don't hit plastic shuttlecocks, they're much worse for your racket than feather ones as they're heavier.
yeah, but i'd prefer not to hit the plastic nor the feathers. i'll stick to hitting the cork. but on a more serious note, thats a pretty ignorant phrase seeing how the majority of europe and americas use synthetic shuttles. hitting anything damages the strings. thats why they break over time. hitting stuff softer than cork of our shuttles will presumably cause less damage (insects for example). hitting stuff harder than cork of our shuttles will presumably cause more damage (coins for example).
2 things you should hit with your badminton racquet. 1) shuttle. 2) yourself. Everything else, DON'T.
Hitting yourself hurts, I think that should be excluded from the list! The only things that a racquet should hit is a shuttle. Aside from that, flies and people you hate are also good targets
Well to avoid anyone saying that I especially said plastic/feather shuttlecocks, not only plastics or feathers. Well anyway, the fact still remains that plastic shuttlecocks cause more damage to the racket and strings on long term usage than feather ones regardless of whatever the majority of players use. Therefore that statement is not ignorant. It's not like America or Europe has that many players compared to the asian countries to begin with.
Don't hit you little sister with your racket. As for pennies -- it depends. If your strings are a thin gauge and the pennies are made of real copper, then don't. However, it you have a crappy thick gauge and the pennies are new (no copper), then hit away
Whatever shuttlecock you use - plastic or feather, cork or no cork, don't ever hit your doubles partner in the head!
my friend and i broke our last birdie and we used the shuttle cock to play, it didn't have the cork and it was so funny.
if you are worry about the longevity of the string, then don't hit anything with your racket other than the shuttlecock. if you want your string to last forever, then don't even hit the shuttlecock with it. i am afraid some of the replies are not very serious as the answer just seems quite common sense to me.
If refering to techniques, slicing the shuttle with the string bed will cause more damage then hitting it straight, especially slice smashes.
well, i'm quite surprised, as i normally throw my racquet around and its still lasted me for 3 years, and yet i see others only lasting for half a month or so
