The Yonhap News Agency in Korea reported yesterday that men's singles star Lee Hyun-il has returned to the Korean national team only four short months after announcing his retirement. Lee is quoted as saying that he had decided that he couldn't quit without giving it one last shot at the Beijing Olympics.

Lee, currently ranked #33, still has a fair chance of qualifying for the Olympics. National team Head Coach Kim Joong-soo said that Lee's fitness has detiorated since January but that with a month of solid training at the national training centre in Taeneung, he should be ready to play in international tournaments as of next month. Obviously, he will not be representing Korea in either the Sudirman Cup nor the World Championships, for which teams were named before he came out of retirement.

If Lee qualified for OLY, Lee will be dark house similar to Taufik...being low ranked but can possibly give fits to top seeded players and create upset.

    Happy for both Li

Li Mao exercises his power again, Lee Hyun Il career is revived and we can expect Hyun Il to give his best to repay master Li. Watch up for LHI in near future.

With Lee HI come-back, absolutely more competitive in MS field and it's very good for badminton. The quality of this KOR player can troubling any top-names, TH-LD-PG-LCW -- hmm, stay alert on him in effort to hunt Beijing Gold! Yeah, right decision from Hyun Il...

Isn't it the style for high ranked players to retire and return back a few months later??
Haha. The act should be nicknamed 'the Chen Hong'!!

Come on guys, I think Lee Hyun II deserve some more attention after his impressive showing in MO 08 of entering the final.

Do you guys think Lee is back to his top form yet? Did he proven himself that he is still superior to PSH to be #1 MS in Korea???
