The Yonhap News Agency in Korea reported yesterday that men's singles star Lee Hyun-il has returned to the Korean national team only four short months after announcing his retirement. Lee is quoted as saying that he had decided that he couldn't quit without giving it one last shot at the Beijing Olympics. Lee, currently ranked #33, still has a fair chance of qualifying for the Olympics. National team Head Coach Kim Joong-soo said that Lee's fitness has detiorated since January but that with a month of solid training at the national training centre in Taeneung, he should be ready to play in international tournaments as of next month. Obviously, he will not be representing Korea in either the Sudirman Cup nor the World Championships, for which teams were named before he came out of retirement. -----------------------From BadZine Info , Wednesday, 06 June 2007 , Written by Don Hearn
If Lee qualified for OLY, Lee will be dark house similar to Taufik...being low ranked but can possibly give fits to top seeded players and create upset.
