Has anyone heard of this string? How much repulsion does it have and what is the durability of this string? If you have used this string can you give me your opinion on this string.
Its an Asia market string (from what I can find) 2000 filament nylon braid with a overcoat to enhance durability. Havent played with it but having used Micropower and Powergut both from Ashaway I would give it a go if the price was right. Powergut 66 I have found to both have excelent repulsion and good durability.
Sor far I've tried the Ashaway top 3 most repulsive string. 1)Micropower .66mm (most repulsive) + soft feel & control. 2)Microlegend .69mm (2nd) 3)PG 66 .66mm (3rd). Even the pg66(3rd) is more repulsive than Yonex BG66.
Sir DinkAlots, unforce error !!,You forgot your own review below. You gave 10pts power to PG66 and 9+ power to BG66 & from my personal test within the two string your review is correct.May be you longtime never use PG66 again.(Too many string in your mind) http://www.badmintonalbum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=32214&page=3 For me (best estimate): Benchmark: Ashaway PG65 Neon Green or Orange. Yeah PG66 Neon green is the one that I used before during testing followed by Microlegend .69mm and now Micropower .66mm.You gave (PG66 neon)excellent in power same like YONEX BG66 in your updated review.
You need to read more carefully, my rating above gives PG66 Neon a "Good+" rating in string power. BG66 is rated as "Excellent".
I decided to try Durakill 66 after some recomendations and it's cheap price (RM20). This string feels stiffer than MicroPower at same tension (25x27). At this tension is gives more 'PING' sound than MP. Both has the same dia, 0.66mm. I was told this string is suitable for control playing style and couldn't agree more. It is not as repulsive as MicroPower but if you can really whack the bird, it is just as good. Overall I like it. I think this string is good for my change of playing style. Before I am offensive but now trying to play with more finnesse.
In Asia there is a new ML with a diameter of 0.68mm. I have two identical racquets, one strung with ML 0.68 and the other with NBG 98, and it is my personal opinion that the ML 0.68mm has better playability than NBG98, and surprisingly even more power. I find NBG 98's power not as solid and not as well controlled. For some strange reason I do not quite like the Micropower 66. I feel both the ML 0.68 and 0.69 as well as the PG66 Neon to be better than MP66. For me MP66, although not lacking in power, somehow feels a bit crude and raw instead of smooth and controlled.
I used to play ML (not sure which guage) and has gone a few strings BG66, before finally settling on the BG80. I also find the NBG98 less "refined" in terms of control. How will you compare the BG66, BG80 and the new ML?
For me the new smaller 0.58mm ML is better. BG80 and BG85 are better than BG66 because it has more grip, but all three strings feel a bit tinny when compared with the new ML. I don't know why but I suspect it may be due to the size of the strings' footprint at impact. But some players may feel differently, especially at low tensions.
