as bwf announced new world rank for 3 weeks latter...
i really amazed that China has made history.....
They top 5 diciplines in world rank,,,
even badminton traditional country like ina, kor, den can't do that....
(no offense but don't talk about malaysia coz they always week in womens and mixed sector)
in early 90"s ina were dominant but weak in mixed doubles..so that kor and den...they never top 5 diciplines in the same time
WOW...what a great achievement by li yong bo army's

Top ranking dosen't bring victory for sure.

MD is still unstable, compared to their counterparts from INA and MA.

No assurance of victory for being ranked first, we've known that for a long time but I slightly disagree on the MD part. China MD have been more solid than Malay and Indo pairs in recent months with victories at the Sudirman Cup and the last two Opens.

First time achievements in the entire history of the sport are always a bit of an eye-opener. ;)

There is not enough incentives (money) for people to adopt this sport. This add to the fact that many western cultures do not take the sport seriously due to its perceived image as being a backyard, thus sissy, sport.

To us badminton players and fans, this is obviously wrong!

China is really really great. They have made so many histories to itself.
1.China is the only country that grabbed all world champ titles.
2.China is the only country that can mixed sudirman cup, thomas cup and uber cup at the same time.I mean they won TC/UC in 2004 and then won SC in 2005.it also happened to the next TC/UC and SC.
3.now they are the only contry that can put their players to be no.1 in all spots MS,WS,MD,WD,XD.We dont know maybe later there'll be another country that can be the same or not

It's kind of harsh and disrespectful to call badminton players or anyone else "loosers'. These players dedicate their lives and time to train and play a sport that provide so meagre rewards, a sport that even though I love very much and even if I have the talent (which I don't have), would selfishly not do. And these players get so much fan abuse just that they happen not to win or not winning all the time, that is sad and deplorable. To me, badminton players are winners, the moment they step onto the courts.
As for playing badminton or any sport without spirit and just for the $$$ and the victory will not last and fans hate money-minded players...that's a laugh, what is "spirit" and I have no idea what this sentence means!!! Everyone needs money to survive, and badminton payouts are miserable and pittance, and you cannot live off that. The recently concluded Vietnam Open, paid what under US$2000 for the winner and a couple of hundred dollars for QF, what a joke. I admire the players actually turned out to play...and play they did with 'passion' and 'spirit'.
Look at tennis, the payout is huge and the victory sure last and last, and smell good too with million $$$ payout and tennis players train even harder to keep winning, and tennis fans not even do 'not hate money-minded tennis players' but keep packing in to watch more tennis and tennis is playing to full house all the time.
I confess I an envious of tennis players getting so much, and I can only wish badminton Opens can pay more, make the game a global attraction and remove political influence to make it a better game, similar to tennis...that is wishful dreaming...I am pessimistic it would happen in my lifetime.
If not for nations bankrolling and funding badminton players, we would not have LCW, LD, TH, etc to entertain us...and then not only would victory does not last, there would be no players playing the game.;)

    Agree with you!!
badminton players seem not to earn so much money as many other athlets do, but they are still fighting for their dreams- trying to be the best as he can!
in China, some players get even less than RMB 800 a month.
i really wish more people especially the events organisers can realise the passion that many people have for badminton and the effort people made for it.
    love badminton! love my life!

Hard work, hard work and more hard work thats their secret. I like Li Yongbo. He will never tolerate any big time charlie attitude in his players. He will not hesitate to drop or sack any player who under perform, even Lin Dan.
