I just got a new racket strung with bg80 at 26lbs 2 weeks ago. Just yesterday I took a look at the racket and the strings are really easy to move. Although I never deliberately tried to move them on my old rackets, I never found that they've moved.. Do you guys' strings move pretty easily when you push them?(literally) I've heard bg80 is good at keeping tension, and 26 isn't that low, shouldn't it be very tight and hard to move with your hands?

definitely not 26lbs if you can move it, unless your racket "bend" or string snapped....!

ps: or you are a man with "superfinger" !!

    paranoid.

new strings are easy to move, period. play them for a few weeks and the string will develop a small dent on the string contacts, which stops them from moving.

Perhaps I exaggerated a tiny bit. Only the very top of the racket is easy to move, the ones in the middle around the sweetspot is difficult, but still movable. So if it was still at 26 lbs, it shouldn't be movable by human hands right?

    Edit: Thanks kwun =]

Ahhhh, that's because the stringer did not tension the tie-off very well. It's still not a big deal as long as the center of the racket feels consistent. However, I would recommend you tell the stringer.

even at 30lbs and above, the strings do move. the pros can be seen re adjusting the strings often during a tournament. whatever it is, do not be paranoid and increase the tension. if strings are not supposed to move, then how on earth does the stringer weaves the crosses? or even worse, those new grommet system rackets where the main holes would block the holes for the crosses.

i noticed strings tend to move a lot earlier. kwun's theory about the string's texture, a groove in the string where they cross such that the strings are set in. another theory is that strings coated with some kind of thin layer of film or wax. it will take a while before they wear out and the string becomes rough. and as you know it, friction between the rough strings prevent slliding. btw, bg80 is slppery string. you might want to try rougher strings to see that the the strings do not slide around.

    Greatttt thanks guys.

The racket was given to me as a gift so I don't really know who the stringer is. But if you guys say it's normal then I'm not worried anymore.

Disagree, unless you are buying fake BG80. :p

BG80 has very good texture relative to most other strings. The only string I can think of that is significantly rougher is PG65/66 Neon.

Well, you get to try my string job then. From 22 lbs to 30 lbs . The strings don't move that easily unless you really slice the bird.

Really slicing the bird should be manadatory in every match. :D

I agree. This should only effect the top 1-2 pieces of crosses. However, if more than 3 top pieces are "much easier" to be moved than the rest, then there's an issue regarding poor string job.

After several days or 1-2 sessions, the difference should be greatly reduced. ;)

I also have the same thing as hellspar3. I see the strings dig in a bit where the crosses and mains meet. Whenever I play the strings keep on moving..arg!! Btw these aren't new strings, but funny how the strings don't move/don't move as much after a while of playing.:)

It's just that for those of us that can't tell the tension, if we see the string moving, we get paranoid. I'm good now though, played yesterday feels the same.

my friend sliced the birdie, missed and hit the body, the birdie broke into 3 pieces, the top popped off, the body broke in two. It was more like a chop than a slice.
