Right now I am comparing rackets, because I will buy a new one. Confuse between NS-9000 and AT-900. Just curious: -Why Yonex back to AT series after they made NS series? -Is the AT-900 made only for LD and TH? I didn't see the other players use it. -Is NS not goed enough? -Will Yonex continue with NS or AT? Plese give me your opinions.
1) Yonex has always been using 2 main models idea for years. Use to be MP and AT. Now is AT and NS. They are phasing out MP. Just like MP, NS are head light (some are lighter than the other) So think of NS is a replacement of MP. Yonex never "went back" to AT because At is still doing well and people like it. 2) No AT-900 is made to replace AT-800 because of some reasons I can not confirm here and there are several posts on that subject before. So they are not just made for LD and TH in mind. It is just they are the 2 best players who endorse 2 different models because the new models suits them and Yonex PAY them to use the AT900 3) NS line are good racquets with designed for different people. In fact, NS9K cost more to make then AT900(I can not tell you why). Both AT and NS lines racquets are great racquets. MP is also great line of racquets. Each racquet is designed for differnt kind of user. 4) Why not?
They made new ATs because there were problems with the AT800s. That's most likely just a marketing scheme. Lin Dan still does not use the AT900 made "for him" and there are many other players such as Lee Chong Wei, Flandy, Cai Yun etc using AT900s. NS is the newer line but of headlight racquets. AT is an older line but of head-heavy racquets. Just because they made new ATs does not have anything to do with NSs being "good enough" or not. In the right hands, any racquet is "good enough". Nobody knows if either will continue but very likely for another few years.
SH, not wanting to sound too pedantic, but most MP are not headlight! The top 3 models are: MP100/MP99 - even balanced to slightly head-heavy MP88 - definitely head-heavy In fact, off-hand I cannot recall any specific MP model is head-light.
Hi Linus, Thank you for your correction. I agree with what you said about the prints on the shaft. However, this is another thing I want to complain about Yonex. I just measure the BP of my MP99, NS9k-s and NS9K-x, they are exactly the same (all are 3UG4) Yet MP is even balance while NS9K said head light on the shaft. May be later I will put together a list of BP for Yonex.
