    Hi Everybody,

I am going overseas soon and am going to hand carry my Yonex 9624-9 bag (size:78x33x33.5 cm) on the flight.
In terms of the bag's size, is it allowed to be a carry bag for security pass to get on board? Please advise.

    Thanks!

Probably he meant that if the bag is filled up until full, then its gonna be too big...

the racquets, use backpack and hand carry on board. the bag, fill with your clothes and check-in luggage. or, just check out at the airport whether the size can be hand carry on board or need to check-in. in my view, if not mistaken, the bag's size is too big for hand luggage.

In theory, the rackets (regardless how you package it) are NOT allowed to be carried on. A lot of players did tried, and did not get into trouble. However, a few cases were brought up in BC (one from Kwun's relative, I believe?), that carried on rackets were questioned, and went through quite some headaches.

So, over all, the 9624-9 bag (size:78x33x33.5 cm) is too big to be allowed to carry on board?

How about about the slightly small Yonex 7729 bag (75x33x32 cm)?? Any comments?

most airliners allow at 56 X 45 X 25cm size and 8kg weight. u better check with the airliner that u wanna travel. maybe they will allow as it is still can fit in top compartment.

Don't try the 9 racquet bag, none of them will fit in over head or under the seat. A 6 or less racquet bag can fit under the seat (will fit about 10 badminton racquets anyway). That is your best shot.
How many racquets are you carring? Here is my suggestion. If you really have more than 10, keep your reciept. Find a shop that sell the same racquets with the most expensive price. Get their price in print. Check in your racquet and ask them to put warning or "FRAGILE" sticker on it. If any of them break, file a claim with airline using the local retail price (higher than your purchasing price) and make some money while you at it.

How about the Yonex 7724 bag (75x22x32 cm) size? It is for 6 rackets.

But the 7724 bag has the same length and height to the 7729 bag (9 rackets bag).

Length is not an issue for under the seat. it is the width is the issue because you are suppose be able to let people get out of the seat in case of the emergency.

:D I thought a 6 was going to be too big to be allowed so just use it as a backpack and quickly flash it to the ground steward by turning your back slightly ;). A 6 fits in the overhead of a Boeing 737, think a 9 will as well. Actually I seem to remember it was an Airbus now (A319) but in the same class as a 737.

You could request for the bag to be checked as a 'Fragile' item.

The six racket bag is OK, but the nine is just too big and won't fit the overhead bin.

I have been transporting hundreds of rackets in past 6 years with my six racket bag without any problems. Normally, I carry 10-20 rackets in my six racket bag and I think that's pretty much the max. amount you can put in. (Well, the record was about 35-36 rackets in two bags because I was traveling with my gf :p )

Take out the original cover, and only put the racket itself into the bag. It can save a lot of space, and make you pack a few more in. Either throw away the cover, or simply pack them into the luggage.

However, do contact you airline to make sure. If they insist that you can't carry on the racket bag, then, 10+ racket to be thrown into the cargo is a big risk.

BTW, some airlines do provide bubble wraps for fragile items for their customers. Ask your airline and see if those are available (if you are going to check your badminton bag)

PS: I know JAL does while NWA and UA don't.
