    Central London YMCA

This is a club that runs every Friday evening, from 7:30 pm to 10 pm.

There is a huge YMCA underground, next to Tottenham Court Road tube station, with 3 good badminton courts.

They are only using Mavis shuttles so far, but you can bring your own feathers. It's fairly free so you get plenty of court time.

The standard is about average club standard, with some lower intermediate level players.

You pay £50 for 6 months membership of the YMCA and pay just £2 a month for the shuttles. A very good deal, considering how much you can play, and all the other facilities the YMCA has, like a large swimming pool, sauna, full health club and gym, etc.

The organiser is a lady named Anna. You get the first session free as a try-out.

Let me know if you need any more details.

    Cheers,

    We'd like to join!

My friend Pina and I would like to come along and try out your badminton club, we're beginners but used to play at school and are really keen to get fit and play competitively!
How do we go about contacting you?

    Thanks

    Katie

    Hi there,

The club's organiser is Anna Maximova, AMaximova@cvdfk.com

You should ask her if you can come down, and if she says yes, the first session is free.

    Cheers

    David

I've been looking for somewher in central London to play and haven't been getting anywhere.

I haven't played for 2 years and before that i don't really know what my standard was. Somewhere above beginner. If that's ok i'll give YMCA a try.

I'd like to play a couple f times after work so do you know of any other central clubs?

    Thanks

I think I will try to go to the YMCA this Friday and see if I can join them. Should ask david147000 for the detail, but you can also email Anna for the full details as well.

I shall try to visit YMCA on Fri. I think what I'll do is, to pay the 15pounds one day pass and try out the session first. I beleive that if this 15 pounds can be deducted when you join as full member, if I am correct.

Just tried out the club yesterday. The standard is around advance intermediate. I arrived pretty late and still got a few double games with the lads over there. Anna is very friendly. But it looks the guys over there all prefer to play singles, in which I don't have problem with it. After talking to a few guys over there, there seems to be common problem for them to go there regularly since most of them are either busy at work or have the evening out during Friday evenings, which applys to myself as well.

I think I will definitely join them in Nov, when I have more time.
