I wonder if LYB still has plans for Zhang Jiewen?

It is quite puzzling that she was separated from her olympic gold medal partner. I guess they wont be able to defend their title from Huang Sui and Gao Ling and other top pairs.

I saw her name lined up at the China Masters mixed doubles. Would this be her new career?

Anyhow I still believe Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei are the only pair who can match Gao Ling and Huang Sui shot by shot. Their games are always entertaining.

IMHO the Yang Wei and Zhao Tingting combo doesnt appeal to me much.

I agree. Zhang/Yang is the only pair that able to beat Gao/Huang consistently during their prime.

Yang/Zhang used to be a good pair. However I still consider that Yang/Zhao are a good pair also although not as good as Yang/Zhang.I believe Yang/Zhao also can beat Gao/Huang.Let's see

Yup, I miss Zhang Jiewen also. Zhang/Yang is the only couple that can beat Gao/Huang constantly. It is always interesting to watch them meet each other.

Zhang has a very powerful smash i think. ANd she could be a good xd player also. Previously, she has showed it, she was paired up with Zheng Bo or Wang Wei and the results were good, at least semifinal or final.:)

Li Yongbo also thinks that she is a valuable player by pairing her with Gao Ling to replace Huang Sui. However this duo seems dont really work out

I dont think that gao/zhang didnt work well. They are a good pair,I think.I saw their match against wei/zhang at INA SS.They really showed wei/zhang who was boss.Wei/Zhang smased them a lot,but it didnt work out.If they lost to Du/Yu in the end,I guess it was just LYB's order.LYB wants Du/Yu to gain their ranking point so they can make it to WC and pass through OG's selection phase. If I were LYB,I would have paired ZJW with young players such as Zhang Dan,Qin T,Pan P,Zhao YL,Cheng S,Ma J or Wang XL to give these young guns some experience.

honestly, is zhang so terrible that they need to be seperated? i dont think so. from what i heard from friends, main reason is LYB thinks Zhang defense is too weak after the Doha game won over Ogura/Shiota pair (2-1). I guess LYB doesnt really like the idea of losing 1 game to the Japan pair. (according to reliable source, China team has an unspoken rule. you never loss to any Japan player or you will get hell after the game) of course according to LYB, Zhang weakness started to surface after 21 point system and thats the main reason of separating the Olympic pair for experiment.

PS.: I think Zhao Tingting game is not as good as Zhang Jiewen (personal opinion only)

really??Zhang dan/Zhang yawen once lost to ogura/shiota at denmark open 2005 and lost to emms/kellogg at korea open 2005 too but they just had been splitted in 2006 after Wei/Zhao's performance went down and changed partner

China national team players only get hell if lose to Japan (its bit due to political 'cause the conflict between China and Japan) I guess thats why Zhang Yawen partner now is Wei Yili. Honestly I have watched Zhao's game and always making unforce error in both WD and XD. I dont even understand why LYB pair her up with Yang Wei. I believe there are some office politic running inside the team.

PS about get hell if lose to japan, i was told by coach from the china state team 3-4 years ago. i am not sure is it the same now.

i dont question the skill of the champion but rather i question the reason of breaking them up. actually for china national team, you can pretty much pair anyone up and you still get a champ. the china badminton team becomes a "champion" player factory and most of the players play the similar style. its getting especially boring to watch WD.

No chance for Zhang Jiewen anymore.

    :crying::mad:Read this.

    China open 混双比赛出现让人费解的一幕,一场中国队的“内战”竟然令奥运冠军张洁雯热泪盈眶。
      自从与杨维拆对后,张洁雯的“配偶”问题一直悬而未决,在黄穗离队期间,张洁雯一度与高崚配对,可随着黄穗的归队,张洁雯再次形单影只。本次大师赛,没有搭档的张洁雯并没有出现在女双名册上,反而“转行”与年轻小将徐晨配起了混双。对于教练的安排,张洁雯选择了接受,并以认真的态度备战。首轮出线后,张洁雯高兴得像个孩子。昨天第二轮对阵另一对中国选手于洋/何汉斌,虽然张、徐两人由于配对时间短,默契稍有欠缺,第一局以15比21先失一局,但通过磨合后两人很快以21比13扳回一局,第三局一开局又以5比1领先。但此时,一直在场边观战的男双组助理教练刘新民突然跑上来,招呼张洁雯和徐晨到场边轻声说了些什么,两人脸色一沉,神色明显不太自在,回到场上两人就像换了个人似的,尤其张洁雯的球几乎都是冲着网去的,12比21的惨败令人惊讶。就连特意从广州赶来观战的张洁雯妈妈周艳红也皱起眉头:“之前不是打得挺好的吗?怎么第三局突然乱打起来了?究竟发生了什么事?”
      拎着球袋,张洁雯眼睛红红地走出球场,脸上却满是倔强的神色,仿佛在压制内心的情绪。此时,一家电视台上前要求采访:“输球了,你觉得打得怎么样?”“我觉得自己打得挺好!”张洁雯短促而生硬地挤出一句话。“对对手的表现怎么评价?”“他们今天发挥得不好。”阿雯的话音里已经明显有了哭腔,眼中的泪水几乎要夺眶而出。记者马上暂停了采访,气氛显得有点尴尬,大家都不知道怎样安慰这位伤心又倔强的女孩,只能目送她背起球袋,义无反顾地离开了赛场。

Because some special reasons, LYB does not give Zhang a chance to play in high level games (world cup and Olympic). Now even in Chain open, she has to lose to the third XD pair of China, (make sure they have enough pints for Olympic). Now she does not even have any chance to prove herself still a good player anymore. Sigh!!

That's not the direct translation, and mostly are your assumptions.:p
LYB was not mentioned in the article, so please don't drag him into this without any proof whatsoever.:)

Be real, Li Yongbo has to be the one given order to those assistance coaches to instruct Zhang Jiewen not to win. It's so sad for the players not only have to overcome stressful practice and now can't even to allow compete fairly. Dark day for badminton continues ... LCW better watch out as LYB may threaten to break his leg again against Lin Dan.

It may be true, but the name of LYB is not mentioned in the article, and for people whom can't understand Chinese, then our assumptions become very misleading in a sense. After-all, they are innocent until proven guilty... plus this article does not have any proof(preferably exactly what the assistant coach said) to Zhang/Xu, which possibly led to what happened in the event.

I am quite surprised as to how the article caught on to what Zhang's mother said(which supports the main idea of Zhang got screwed), but nothing more... like what the coach said or something else.

Basically the article just said, ever since her partner's retirement(i think, I am not very good with simpify chinese), she doesn't have a consistent WD partner but she was extremely happy to be given the chance to play XD. In the match yesterday? or two days ago, even though their partnership is short and they didn't have time to get used to each other, they fought back from losing 15-21 in the first set to take the second 21-13 and was leading the third 5-1 when an assistant coach came on and spoke to her and Xu, and you can tell from their facial expression that something was wrong. After returning to the court, they seem like a different pair... With most of her shots making a beeline for the net, they lost the final set 12-21. While leaving the court, a reporter wanted to interview her and asked her how she felt about losing, she said she thought she played well, than reporter asked what about your opponent, she said she thought they didn't play to their best today. After that tears were close to coming out of her eyes and her voice is cracking basically and they had to stop the interview.
