Zhang Ning claimed her Word Champion in 2003 and Olympic Champion in 2004.

Can she repeat the feat in 2007 and 2008?

[A] She will win WC07 only
    She will win OG08 only
[C] She will win both WC07 and OG08
[D] She will never win WC07 and OG08

judging on the fact that she is getting old, and that china does have many talents to fill in, she may not be able to double up...chances are she'll win either WC or OG...but maybe not both...seeing as how xie xing fang beat her in the recent China Masters in the final, we may see a passing of the torch...but because the final game was a close 23-21, i think zhang ning does still have a lot of gas in her tank left...

ZN would lose if someone play 'standing on water' and caught ZN off guard, on a day when her form is off...the real possibility that ZN could lose is to her own fellow teammates...otherwise, if I am betting, ZN is a safer bet. I admit I am bias but I do like her playing style, composure and looks like a winner each time she steps on the court. But my all time favorite player is Susi, the ballerina on a badminton court...nobody like her. Just my take.

true...i 2nd...who knows...maybe she can...but i do believe that there are other women that are equally competitive with her....probably Xu haiwen or pi hongyan...or her teammate xie xing fang...ahaha would you agree that it would be pretty crazy if both lin dan and xie xing fang won the gold XD...although i will have my money on zhang ning =P

Susi is my fave too. She's one of genius player who reached prestigious achievements in young age. Rather confusing, Is ZN coming from same generation with Ye Zhaoying? First time I saw ZN in Uber Cup 1994, Jakarta. WoW, it's long-long time ago more than 10 years and she's still exist until now.

Maybe, ZN will add World Champ title collection soon in KL 2007 but not the hardest one Beijing Gold. I think XXF has biggest ambition for this to realize another Golden Couple in Olympic arena after Susi-Alan story in Barcelona 1992.

I enjoy watching ZN on court. What a great player on court and a nice person off court too. I love to see her defending her WC & OG. An AE next year to her collection would be a bonus!

    This is what I predict:

WC - ZN & XXF will meet again for their 3rd consecutive final in WC. ZN will pull it off this time in 3 games.

OG - XXF will be defeated in QF or SF. ZN will probably meet a non-CHN player in the final. ZN will win again.

I kind of agree with Robin prediction for OG08. It is not so much whether ZN or XXF will win when they face each other in the final, but rather can they make it to the final when the whole China expect them to win the gold?

When it comes to dealing with pressure, ZN has seen it all and perhaps in a better position to put up a more consistant peformance than XXF, especially if they face a foreign opponent in the QF or SF. If both pull through to the final, then really all pressure is off as the Gold will be China's, then it is really a 50-50 game. Overall, I think ZN has a better chance in winning OG than XXF.

As for the WC07, I fancy XXF.

That would make XXF 3X WC...a record.

Technically yes. But because the WC is held now every year, it makes it slightly easier within the best part of a player career.

To me Yang Yang winning 2 WC consecutively in the late 80s was still an amazing acheievment.
