hey BC, i was wondering if any racquet experts out there could tell me if the pictures show a hairline fracture in my racquet head. The racquet is a 1 yr old AT500 3U. On the first day i got it, i clashed with some beginner's metal racquet causing the chip When i restrung it a few months back, i looked at the chip after stringing and noticed the 'crack'. I plan to restring the racquet to 26 or 27 lbs soon and was just wondering if it would be safe and what are the chances that the frame will collapse?? Thanks
be prepare to get a new racquet.... if you want to prolong use of this racquet, pls do not string it more than 23lbs
:crying::crying: ugh, i saw this coming anyways, so when i restring, what if i kept it at 25lbs with bg65s or went to 23lbs with bg80s? would lower tension on thinner string be any better? also, this racquet is one year old and its CD coded, so would i have any luck with yonex warranty if it caved in?
i know but i feel that the clash didnt exactly cause the fracture *the clash caused the paint chip* after my 2nd restring on the racquet, i noticed the fracture...so could i possible play it as a defect?
you could always give it a try, but i'm not sure they'll be very symphatetic. if your stringer is any good, he'll be able to tell you what he thinks before he strings it.
^^ *sigh* well, i guess the racquet is still playable...i dont exactly have the cash to replace it at the moment and it was a present too so i dont want to part with it either i guess ill have a talk with my stringer about this next time i see him thanks everyone
Either clash or bad string or higher than rec. tension are not covered in the warranty. However, that's just in theory. If you are still within the warranty period, and want to try your luck...
Just like previous posts say, don't string it too high of tension. Enjoy the racquet. It might have a long life ahead. If it is a crack, it will show or break on the next restring. If it live, it should be ok.
I'm starting to think Cooler is on tinycrack now jk jk yeah, I wouldn't string it too tight... its a nice nasty chunk of paint, and looks like more will start flaking off upon next restring/mishit in that area. If it survives the restring it should be ok for a while. Otherwise... What Master SilentHeart said.
wow, thanks everyone for your input ill string it with lower tension next time and hope it survives lol, i do like the racquet and about the paint job, ive heard and read on this forum that i could seal it up with some of that nail polish enamel so ill give that a try, i didnt want to paint it so i could get a clear picture of the crack today to ramster: for the pictures, i used a sony dsc-w55 camera > i set the AF to center focus, center metering, fill flash and i used LED flash from my cell phone for the close-up ^^
