I figure I'll post here, instead of starting a new thread. I'm trying to figure out what type of racket to buy. My hitting style is mainly forearm/wrist. By that, I mean that I don't swing or follow through much. I just flick my wrist at the shuttlecock. My arms are thin, and weak, so I almost always go for the lightest racket. For some reason, I like to play with strings that are a tad loose. I don't know why, but my hits are directed better with loose strings. I read a bit about rackets, and there's generally not any racket made with loose strings, but rather, rackets made with flexible shafts. I would consider myself a newbie, b/c I've only played at the high-school gym-class level, but was dominant there. I'm on a college-student's budget, but would like something good enough to win intramural tourneys. I know the racket doesn't make the player, but it would help my chances. Any suggestions on what I should get? I may consider high-end rackets, if I can find some non-counterfeit rackets at a decent price on eBay. My "budget" is between $30 and $45, so that means something in the $60-$100 range retail, if I were to get it on eBay. Thanks! -Dan
we say no to ebay too many fakes and only very few sellers with real ones. all the ones from china are fake
hmm...ic. All of the legitimate ones would probably be out of my price range. Besides the price and source, what would be some good rackets?
Riding on the advice of kikks9, I'm going to start a new thread. Others may post here as well, to ask for advice. If the thread doesn't catch on, then it'll die on its own, and so be it. Here's my inquiry:
i think, for starters, this should go in the racquet recommendation section of the forum. also, we should have some ground rules so that members looking for advice provide some basic, yet crucial info because any advice is given, such as: 1) playing style (offensive/defensive etc) 2) types of games played (mainly singles/doubles?) 3) budget 4) availability in your area and so on ....
This is exactly how ppl get tricked in ebay - under the assumption that things from ebay should be "much cheaper". You might save say 10-20% for higher end Yonex from ebay (mostly Asian distribution codes), if you go with the several reputable ebay sellers. However, thinking about saving 50% or even more is mostly asking for trouble.
to clarify what LB means... if you get a racket in ebay that is 30-40% of retail, we can guarantee you that they are fake rackets.
Yes, you might be able to get a Cab30ms, AT300 or NS5000. May be a AT500 or NS6000 for that price. Good luck.
For £60, not the AT500/NS6k, NS5k brand new - think its around the £75 - £100 mark at the moment. Should be able to get the MP45, not sure how that plays though, as I've not got one. Otherwise, other options include various SOTX's from Jerby - www.sotxsports.nl KWUN - would it be worth making this thread a sticky in the appropriate section??
