Mike Beres is putting on a show, making it to three (pretty good for a dude in my age range) finals, with Canadians in all finals.

    GO CANADA!!!!

My friend said that USA and Canada are the badminton superpowers in the Pan-Am area... followed by Chile...

I don't know about Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil... they are big enough nations... they should be able to have a large population pool to make badminton popular worldwide...

but those countries dont have people like ardy W, Kim DM, Chanarong (ex thai champ), billy gilliand (ex xd champ), etc LOL
I like to see lcw, TH and LD comes to calgary to play and see how they handle our lighter/faster shuttles LOL
At the last Pan American game in calgary, in MD, CAN beat USA beat because USA keep hitting the shuttles OUT:p

Milroy and Beres win gold in men's badminton doubles at Pan Am Games
    56 minutes ago

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (CP) - Mike Beres has taken his first step toward becoming a triple gold medallist at the Pan American Games.

The Ottawa native and partner William Milroy of Calgary, the No. 2 seeds, defeated top-seeded Americans Howard Bach and Bob Malaythong in straight sets (22-20, 21-13) in the men's doubles badminton final Wednesday.

Beres will play in the men's (MS) and mixed doubles finals on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Charmaine Reid and Fiona McKee had to settle for silver after losing the women's doubles final in straight sets.

Reid, from Niagara Falls, Ont., and McKee, from Markham, Ont., were defeated 21-14, 21-15 by Eva Lee and Mesinee Mangkalakiri of the United States.

Reid will play for gold in the women's final on Thursday

the latest contest between the two teams was in June Sudirman Cup, remember USA beat Canada in 4:1 and Canada has to struggle for the Division 3

i forgot about the Sudirman Cup meet.
Due to no funding from badminton canada, not all the best attended.
US beat our #5 rank WS, sarah mcmaster.
our top MS mike beres and bobby milroy didn't play MS at the SC
Why u only look at sudirman result as the best?

if not look at the most recent result, which one you looking for ? last two year pan am ?
I think you have a mistake too, Anna was there in the Sudirman Cup. seems Canada had sent their best team. (you can check on the team list from tournamentsoftware)
but whoever there was, Canada still would lost the game. But of course, Canada might think it was not anything they were in division 3 or division 4 in such event:eek:. Like USA, they did not send their best men and women too!!

that link to IBF table is about 1.5 year old. I can't find newer data. IBF tabulation is more conclusive. Why r u basing your claim only on 2007 sudirman cup? this thread is about pan am games, which canada rules in 2007.:p

I feel really really :eek::eek:. I don't know what your logic is. If this thread is for pan am games, why you link to a PAN AM Championship tourney webpage? If PAN AMS is stand for pan american countries, so why it is not a pan am counties head to head comparision? why it is not looking for all these countries head to head results ? u want to shut me out from this post ?

mike beres almost triple crown but lost the XD match likely due to short recovery time from his MS win.

11 am MS match (3 games)
    12 noon XD match
