i think the use below the knee is for Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper’s Knee). you can search about it here. what kind of bandage it is, i have no idea. interested in finding out too. never seen any in the pharmacy. maybe have to ask the pharmacist. should be like a normal bandage except it has adhesive. but since i never saw one, i cannot confirm. the other ones that you saw was skin color right? tried to find a picture of a player that use one but cannot find it. usually i see the players apply them in the thigh area and calf area. body and shoulder i cannot see because they wear shirts. but i remember a picture of lin dan with that kind of tape near his waist or something. and that thread was asking about the kind of tape used too. try to do a search then. good luck. :D basically it is used for support of muscles especially if you have small injury there. correct me if i am wrong.

athletic tape used under the knee to alleviate jumpers knee. can also be known as a patella strap.

sorry to budge in on this thread but since it is about tape/bandages, my skin would have an allergic reaction if i use tape (ie the adhesive brown ones). so what kind of tape should i use instead? the ones for sensitive skin or what?

if you r planinng to use it to relieve some jumpers knee issue
you can just go to a drug mart and see if they carry a knee strap

Ilpjlau, tried zinc-oxide tapes? (or do you americans spelss Zink like we do?)

Anyway, the straps are just general Knee support, it aids with jumpers knee, but also with just a 'regular' overuse injury.
I had my knees taped in like that for about a month because I was just overtrained (physically, not mentally ;)...why do I do these things to myself?)

check out the elastoplast site. there's some info on how to apply the tape and such and if i am not mistaken how to apply on sensitive skin. :D

me, i just use the bandage. the tube kind. like socks. i can get it in the pharmacy. it is sold in a big roll with different sizes and sold like cloth (per meter). i bought it for RM16 per meter. then i can cut it up to whatever length i want. mostly i use it for the patellar thingy because mainly it is the knees that get the most battering when i play. the good thing about adhesive athletic tape is the fact that they dont roll or bunch up. once applied, will stay like that and give good support.

it will be great if someone can identify which ones exactly (there is a substantial amount of them from the links)

It's used as a preventative bandage to protect the muscles and the joints around the knees.
    Tennis players also use this.
