Cool! Let's hope that Chen Hong and Boonsak are in opposite halves of their draw. :)

If I remember correctly, Boonsak is studying to become a lawyer.
Anyone know about the other players that are listed here?

I think so....they dont have time to study....:(:(...I am wondering about Chen Hong too..I thought he went to his province then how he can study at Beijing univercity?? learning by on line???
I think I agree with you even it sounds harsh that 99% just enrol their names but never attend their studies....except Boonsak

    Badminton players nurture high hopes

    Published on August 3, 2007

[UNIVERSIADE] Thai badminton players will temporarily put their personal business on the back burner when they launch their quest for gold in the 24th World University Games in Bangkok next week.

Thai players are skipping the World Championships in Malaysia that coincides with the Universiade, which has included the sport for the first time.

The Thai squad are hoping to repeat the feat at the World University Badminton Championships three years ago where they made it to the finals in all five categories and scooped three gold medals in front of their home crowd.

Those medals came from local ace Boonsak Ponsana in the men's singles, mixed double team of Sudket Prapakamol and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul and Sudket and Phattapol Ngernsrisuk in the men's doubles.

The Kingdom also claimed two silver medals through Soratja Chansrisukot in the women's singles and Kunchala and Sathinee Chankrajangwong in the women's doubles.

This time the members of 2004 squad, excluding the now retired Sathinee, form the core of the team, with HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, Poompat Sapkulchananart, Songpon Anukrittayawan, Nattapon Narkthong, Salakjit Ponsana and Monthila Meemek as the reinforcements.

Thailand's biggest hopes rest on the shoulders of Boonsak, who has proved his worth with several victories over Chinese high-profile players, including world No 1 Lin Dan, this year.

However, Boonsak's chances of collecting the medal appear to be slim as China's world No 2, Chen Hong, who is a masters student at Beijing University of Technology, figures in the list put out by the mainland. With the Chinese presence, Thai fans might have a chance to see a rematch of the recent Thailand Open final in the Games.

The Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) also anticipates a gold medal from the mixed doubles, where Sudket will temporarily discard his regular partner Saralee Thungthongkam, a pairing that once reached the world's No-1 spot, to reunite with old pal Salakjit. The two last played together in the Hong Kong Open two years ago.

"We believe Thai players are second to none tactically, but they should concentrate more on the game and avoid unforced errors. If they are more aggressive in attack, it will be perfect," said the BAT's Chareon Wattanasil.

The badminton event begins on August 9 with the mixed doubles preliminary round, while the singles and doubles events are scheduled for August 12.

Totally unexpected for Tommy to beat Chen Hong while the newly paired Tantowi Ahmad/Viki Indra Okvana beat the more experienced Shen Ye/He Hanbin

Pia also fought well with a tight defeat to Wang Lin....
