    Hello everyone.
This is my first post at Badminton Central, and first time in about 3 years since I have gotten back into playing Badminton

I recently bought a badminton racket (Sawana Muscle Power 638) with a matte black finish. But, there is a small chip at the very tip of the head of the racket. Is there any way to fix this, or do you all have chips on your rackets from usual play?

    Thanks a lot!

Chips are normal with rigorous badminton play and inevitable. You'll find that many good players have paint chips all over their racquets from hard fought games, ;)

However, unless you miss hit the shuttle hard, chips shouldn't start appearing immediately after you buy a new racquet, if you bought your racquet with a chip, you can ignore it, or return it.

This is common sense, but be sure to tell a chip from a crack, cracks are not normal and only result from defects or hard clashes and will lead to a broken racquet.

Is it possible to "repaint" the chip though? I mean, for aesthetic reasons?

Or is that just going to mess up my racket?

Goto auto part store. see if you can find a matching color paint. If so, use that paint.

finally, spray paint it with 2 layers....

The question would be is it worth the time, effort and money just to patch something like that? If this is like your car, then possibly but a racket?

its not worth it to buy 25 dollars in autobody touch up paint to fill in chips on something that is a few times more expensive than the paint itself.

I am not sure about the paint price in CAN. The last bottle I bought cost me $6 USD. Even at my dealer shop cost me $11. You can use it on the next racquet or your friend's.

wow, if i was given a penny for every chip i had on my racquets, i could just about buy a new one!

it's all cosmetic, who cares, it's not like the racquet's gonna be entered into a beauty contest ....

wow.... so many chips? can show us?
you are right, is just normal to have some wear and tear to the paint. this will not affect the racket's performance...:)

hahaha, multiple chips per racquet, quite a few racquets = enough chips to buy a new racquet @ 1p per chip!

well, of course that's an exxageration, but you get the idea.

and yeah, racquet performance is not affected, well, not until you have such a big chip that it becomes a crack, then it's time to go shopping again!

    hehe...

I get what you all mean!

I'll probably use some of my black acrylic paint (I have from painting) and dab a bit on the racket to make the chip less visible.

Thanks everyone! I've never had so many responses to a single topic I've posted in a forum in so little time!
