Hey MSHSBadmPlayer, was great playing with you and the others last night! Thank you for being merciful as well! Appreciate that! Please continue giving me pointers by the way As for costing, I gather that they encourage regular playing hence the $20/session if you are an ad-hoc player. Go for a trial session and decide for yourself the worth of it all, a lot of things in life cannot be measure in monetary terms Gee... sounding so old!!!!
Place To Play In Singapore, if you are anywhere near Bukit Timah, you could go to the Assumption Boys School on Upper Bukit Timah Road (it's next to the Cashew Road turn-off). Taxi drivers know this place better as 'Boys Town'. There are 6 courts inside (the Vincent Hall) and they play everyday. The best time is from 6pm to 10pm. The level of play ranges from intermediate to advanced. The sessions are managed by Tang Eng Han, a former Singapore national player. If ever there was someone with the right blend of skill and humility, Han is the guy. Give him a call or send him an SMS (mobile: 9238 7689) and he will give you directions and tell you how you can join the game. The shuttles are free (and they're high quality too) and an evening's play would cost you around S$5 to S$8 depending on how long you play. You could also book time on a monthly basis (although they might all be taken at the moment). If you do join, look me up - I play occasionally (on Saturdays).
Oldhand! What a great source of information! Thank you! Strictly intermediate and above? Or should I go for a trial session for the other players' assessment? Asking because have only been playing a year + -_-"
Call There are even 9-year-olds playing there. Your level isn't a matter of concern. Give Han a call and ask him how you could join. (I could help but I'm in Seoul right now.)
lol. i am twice of 9y/o. are there alot of girls? i always see mainly guys and i feel very shy/outcast cuz they keep whacking -_-
Oldhand >> 9yr old can be a very good players as well... but thanks Oldhand Will give Han a call / sms to check things out. coleismybear >> *LOL* Let me amuse you of my tale (cutting it short of course) when I play with my close friends, I brawl at them for doing smashes (at my body, eye, mouth and wherever) but welcome it, gritting my teeth and waving my fist, swearing someday I'll repay them of the same! Keep trying out different venues & sessions, you'll be able to find one that's comfortable for you. Just don't give up on the search!
my wife and i are members of ge sports.... no question, playing there improve our stamina and skills. we played the fri session - there only 4 to 6 of us then... my work requires me to travel, work odd and long hours (sound familiar to many of you right?), even though there are the tue and fri sessions, it is not easy trying to schedule sessions you have paid (u pay first and play later)... you need to be a member and pay a annual fees before you can play, this fees entitle you a t-shirt.... now, we play at toa payoh and have the flexibility to miss a couple of sessions if required. here you pay what you play and it helps you save for session you miss.... another group we join at hougang require us to pay first and play later, BUT it cost only half of what ge sports is charging, with no member fees required... therefore, unless ge sports review their rates... shortage of adult membership is going to be a going issue. we hope to play there again
