Hi, I am a novice at badminton and have no idea bout stringing at all. I had my racquet (a Cab 21 SP) restrung just last week with nbg-95 with a tension of 23 lbs (recommended by the shopkeeper). After a week or so, played 2-3 times, the string began to loosen up. Is this normal?? Cos when new, the string felt very rigid and tight.. Is this a bad restringing job or should i just step up in the string tension next time? Thanks
it also depends on the string, i have no experience with NBG-95 so i can't tell you whether or not it's a stretchy string. There are strings like BG-65 that lose 2lbs within half a week...
I use BG 66 !!! Everytime after each point, i have to adjust the string wan.... it always run out of its shape... tension: 25
lol...i sent my racquet (at700) for restringing yesterday with bg66 at 23lbs...and my friend also does his stringing there, also he is a hard hitter but his strings don't lose tension that fast, so maybe it's just your stringer ZhiWeiZ
Strings will move around before they "settle", or creat grooves in the strings, so they stay in the same spot. And to avoid tension loss, you can prestretch your strings before stringing your racquet...
it seems that 23lb tension is a popular tension, why is that guys? Does it feel better than 25lb or 24
Badminton string isn't perfectly elastic, so it will never quite return to its former length after release of tension - losing 2/3 pounds before the string makes its mind up is absolutely par for the course. Furthermore, if your racket was strung on a crack machine, it will likely have lost a bit of tension there and then. Imagine stretching a piece of chewing gum - it's only under tension until you stop pulling; after that, it sinks because its length has increased. The same thing happens, to a much lesser extent, with badminton string: the string will creep backwards slightly from the crank once it has been pulled out. Prestretching, or using a drop-weight machine, can easily overcome this.
. I dont get what kind of question that is....it just means that a lot of people find themselves comfortable with 23lbs. Besides, all tensions, and strings provide a different feel, there's no better or worse. Different people prefer different feels.
me too I have experience the string on my racket after a week begins to loosen fast...BG 66 @28lbs,at 1st its so fun to hit shuttles with it because of the crisp sound, now there's no crispy sound anymore I can feel it it starts to loose...I dunno if its in racket, because I got a tactic xross striker racket which have a tension of 30lbs Bg65 string, still the tightness is there after 3 months of alternate using it...I used it alternately because my wrist cant take its hi tension,my wrist becomes sore...
The strings will have to stabilize and you also need to consider also elongation of the string. The string tension will drop within like the first week or so once stringed, but then after that it should be fine. If you want to have your racket at a desired tension, then have it stringed higher like a pound or two than what you want so you would have what you want when the strings have stabilized.
yah~ what matt said!! my ideal tension is 27 - 29, so I string to either 29 or 30 lbs depending the condition
But actually its tension depends on ur comfort...whether u are ok with it or not... thats all...the skill is most important...
String tension will drop, especially if you smash hard and/or play very often. Also, warmer and humid environment will make the string bed feel softer as well.
I couldn't agree more... it's hot here in my country... I strung my racket @ 29lbs.. now it feels like its 25lbs...
