I also know Yoke-Rian are playing MD. They should be seeded. Maybe 5 to 8 because they still use notional ranking... I just checked the BWF page for draws. Nothing posted there today about Indonesian Challenge. Only the US Open.
In the GS Under-19, we should see these girls perform: Cisita Jansen and Jenna Gozali [on the right] Jenna won the Central Java Circuit, Cisita was the semifinalist. In the recent Sulawesi Circuit, Linda Weni also won [yet again]. Linda has won the Sumatra, Jakarta, and Sulawesi Circuit. Undoubtedly the dominant force in GS Under-19 [Taruna] domestic circuit. Only 2 other Taruna girls have accumulated more INA ranking points than Linda Weni: Maria Febe Kusumastuti and Febby Angguni.
Possible pull out.. ..for the top seeded WS player, Zhou Mi, as reported in today's Jawa Pos.: http://versipdf.jawapos.co.id/index.php?detail=or_det&file_det=001200241260 The article mentioned that the HKBA told the organizer that she might miss this event due to an injury (no specific detail as to what type of injury). The organizer has already sent an email to her/HKBA, but hasn't received any replies yet. The article also mentioned that she also had a bit of trouble with her visa's paperwork, but seemed to be fine. If she misses this event, the organizer will have to redo the WS draw.
No Zhou Mi? INA should win WS... [this time] If Zhou Mi is not participating anymore, then I dare to predict that the winner will be either Pia [Pia Zebaidah Bernadet] or Febe [Maria Febe Kusumastuti] or Fira [Maria Elfira Christina]... I am pretty sure one of these up and coming INA WS will lift the throphy... They all can handle Simone Prutsch and Rachel Hinley. Jang Soo Young is tougher... but Pia should be able to handle her... My heart will hope that Febe will do something good here before the World Junior Championship. A total win here or even a semifinal result means she will get very good ranking points to be seeded somewhere in the top 4 and avoid unnecessary stumbling blocks too early in that World Junior tournament... Hey ctjcad, will you be in Surabaya next week to witness this feat?
Maria Elfira Christina She is ranked #5 in INA [last time I checked]... I am convinced she will do well this time around...
Zhou Mi officially pulls out from Gudang Garam Challenge....citing the injury stil bothers her...( not sure what kind of injury)...wish her best luck and recover well.....anybody has the draw??
Yup, I also confirm what ctjcad and hau-ge reported. According to Kompas newspaper, Zhou Mi pulled out. Then INA's WS will have a better chance... for $$$, glory, and ranking points [right, vching?]...
Here's the news report.. ..hmm, unfortunately, i will leave Sby next Wednesday, back to L.A. I might swing by the gym where they are holding the event, on Tuesday (1st day of competition) but not sure because the schedule might be very tight and the place is far from where i live.. ..confirmed here in Jawa Pos. The exact nature of the injury is still unknown: http://versipdf.jawapos.co.id/index.php?detail=or_det&file_det=002400241260
Zhou Mi keeps getting small injuries here and there, eh? During the Vietnam Challenge, she was also injured during/after her match with Pia. She could not play her semifinal match against Fira... Maybe Zhou Mi trained too hard... to compensate for her inactivity of the last few years...
How many Maria in INA women's squad now? Maria Kristin, Maria Febe, Maria Elfira,....? Hmm, without Zhou Mi attendance INA WS should win it and the best hope is Pia.
Agree... INA's best hope is Pia. Followed by Fira [world # 96], Febe [world #94], and Nana [Fransisca Ratnasari, world # 91]. Despite the slightly higher ranking, Nana lost to Febe in the INA Open and performed not as well as Fira in some earlier tournaments this year. Oh, as far as the Maria-s... there are only those 3 that we know of... I predict we will see 2 Maria-s in next year's Uber Cup team. Either Maria Febe or Maria Elfira will accompany Maria Kristin, Firdasari, and Pia. Nana has not shown good form lately. This Indonesian Challenge should be one of her last tests... If she looses terribly again, then Pelatnas can remove her from the squad...
Taruna information? Anyone knows? Does anybody have info on the Taruna [Under-19] seedings or draw? I suppose Linda Weni should be seeded #1 in the Taruna Girl's Singles. Jenna Gozali might be seeded 2nd... Cisita Jansen seeded 5/8... maybe... Arif Nandang most possibly is seeded #1 in the Taruna Boy's Singles...
Chris, Please call them to get the draw...been told that Draw is done...just curious! I think CHN did not send their players this time....hope I am wrong!
