I have good cross court net drop...... from leftbaseline to rightnet. use that to tired out my opponent~~~
net plays always kill me in this, either too hi or stuck at the net... =.=

if your nets are really good. you pretty much control the game. i practice my nets as much as possible ~4 times a week. go through a box of 1000 shuttles with my sparring partner. forehand, backhand and straight net & counter net.

too drop you have to cut the shuttle abit!!
and you have to take the shuttle at the highest point you can take!!
my drop are all behind the line!!
the way to hit to the base line and drop try to make it the same!!!
meaning the hitting skill is the same
your opponent won't be able to read your game

I don't use the backhand clear, as I use around the head.
I don't consider a master shot, as if I have to use backhand clear, I am screwed already, so I don't think it matters, right now to me. Eventually I need one, but at this point of my game, I would rather concentrate on the footwork so I can use around the head.
I consider the smash to be the most difficult to master as it is the shot the is used to end the rally. There are so many things that make a good smash, angle, placement and power are just some. Deception can be another. You have the place the bird good, otherwise you can be worse off. If your angle isn't good, they can drive it. If your power isn't enough, then they can drive it it. Basically, if one of those 3 keys to a smash is REALLY off, you are screwed.

smash?? lol smash is easy :P!!
how hard a smash also is easy to take!!
and you can't always use overhead to take your backhand!!
sometimes the ball is too fast you can use overhead!!
well if your power isn't enough!! i advise you to play more!!
or go training!!!
lop for few minutes!!
its done!!!
but the shuttle must always be infront of you!!
your footwork must be good

Smash is easy? Yes, it's easy. But hard to 'master'.
Most beginners depend on their *flat* 'smashes', yes, they're smashes, but they're flat. The hard part is to get it faster, precise, and at an angle. Now that's not as easy as you've described it.
Oh and I agree with you, that the footowkr must be good in order to get to the correct position faster for an overhead/around-the-head clear.
It just takes practise. But still, that's not as hard as 'mastering' the smash
.

Smashing was always my problem. I have decent shots overall besides smash. My little brother says its, medium fast. Which is pretty non threatening. I play with a plastic shuttle. Are they that much slower than feathers?

Lol! Nice one Jhirata. I don't want to do jump smashes just yet. After I get great regular smashes first.
