    Hi

im a kinda curious as to which of these is stiffer; on dink's racquet review, it was stated that Woven 5a is "Very Stiff-" and Woven 8 is "Stiff" whereas on ibuysports.com has a stiff rating of 8-8.5 for Woven 5a and 8.5-9 for Woven 8.

also, out of curiousity, if you were to choose either of those, which would you buy? im kinda thinking of getting Woven 5a, but Woven 8/8a looks so damn awesome lol

i probably shouldnt put this here...but dont wanna start a new thread just for this: how's shopping w/ ibuysports.com? are they good and efficient w/ the shipping in canada?

    thx alot guys!

(sorry shuda probably put this in the racquets part of the forum instead of equipment...can someone move it for me plz? thx)

the w5 is stiffer than the w8.

Sotx measures their stifness by checking how far the shaft bends when a fixed load is placed on the Tjoint...so 8-8,5 means the shaft bends 8-8,5 degrees.
8,5-9 means it bends more, hence it's more flexible.

If you can play with veyr light rackeys, I'd say go for the w5 (which btw looks awesome) if you like more even balanced racket pick the w8.

Can't comment on Ibuysports though...I just hope they have some in stock..

    it's 83grams, and slightly headlight.
it swings way faster than the w8, which is 87grams and even balanced.
    so yes, I'd say so...

It'll also take some time to get used to the w5a, it's so darn fast your timing changes..

Concerning Ibuysports, it is very nice. I bought a racquet there (woven 8) and it came rapidly in perfect condition without any special border fees. They are definitely professional. And for the woven 8, it's medium stiff, good all-around racquet.

    happy buying! :)

im used to lighter racquets so Woven 5a sounds pretty good for me; im curious though: ive been sorta reading the tension-power thread and im a bit confused; bcuz i use lighter racquets, i hit with more of a quick snap as opposed to a longer swing....so would bg80 strung at a higher tension result in more power?

I have a 5A and it is awesome. 2 months ago I was planning to buy a 8/8a and yet one of the guy in our community has one I don't like the color so I dropped it. Later I checked with Din's review I was totally pleased to have own a 5A eventhough I haven't tried most of the rackets.
I got 5A from puppysports from HK and it is USD56(+4.55w/string) + shipment. Ilovesports I had a painful experience with my order early this year.
    Have fun
By the way I just got a 8080+ from this current trip to HK and I am trying to adjust to it, so far so good.

SOTX rackets are quite durable hence their high tension ratings. A demo Woven 8 that I tried a while back had a ton of battle scars (~10-15% of the paint was missing from the head which appear to be caused by collisions) but was still holding out strong was I was using it.

    some random suggestions:
-if you don't like the w8's colours, try the D300. It's alot like it (exact same specs) and plays great as well. It's a bit less expensive and blue.

-if you want to be real hip, look into the w6i, it'll probably replace the w5A soon, don't know if anybody ahs any pictures of them, maybe I'll see what I can do ;)

sotx are very durable rackets, i was playing some "wall ball" in a corner and misjudged my distance to the next wall and had a minor scrape/clash,my w8 lost some paint :( another fellow that plays at school with me had a w8 missing paint on the top, and on the sides all from clashes and it played fine. Still at 25 lbs or more.
