    The Chinese Taipei Badminton Association has appointed IEC in Sports as exclusive co-ordinators for its international TV rights.

    The deal covers the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open taking place later this month and is for an initial three-year term.​

    IEC has already confirmed live broadcasts of semi-finals and finals in selected Asian markets including Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

    Said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC: “We now work with all the major badminton associations in the region, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau and Thailand, as well as the Asian Championships.”

    ..very cool and sounds promising!:cool:..However, when it mentions that the just ended Japan Open will be its inaugural tourney, i recall there is a web host which offered the broadcast. So i guess it's the same one:

    Sports media agency, IEC in Sports will launch www.WOB.tv – the first ever dedicated Web TV service created for badminton fans globally.

    WOB.tv will feature both archive and live streaming of major international badminton tournaments, from around the globe.

    World of Badminton – the IEC produced bi-weekly magazine show will also be made available, containing feature stories and interviews with the top players from Finland to China, Indonesia to Qatar.

    WOB is on one of the cable TV stations here. I've only watched it once before, mainly because all hell breaks loose if I try to interupt the cartoons. It was quite well done.

    Badminton World Federation (BWF) has signed a one-year contract extension with IEC in Sports (IEC) and Total Sports Asia (TSA) for all BWF broadcast media rights for the three Major BWF Badminton Events.

    These are the Thomas & Uber Cup in Kuala Lumpur from May 9-16, the World Championships from Aug 23-29 in Paris and the World Junior Championships from 18-25 April in Guadalajara. [​IMG]

    TSA will be responsible for sales in Asia Pacific and Middle East whilst IEC will look after Europe and the
    Americas.

    ...except 'World of Badminton' hasn't had an episode on the WoB site since December 2008. :( This is sad because I enjoyed the highlights and interviews.

    You would never see a badminton highlight on a North American sports channel... unless someone was streaking across the court.:rolleyes:

    The Badminton World Federation (BWF), the governing body for badminton, has appointed IMG Media, a division of IMG Worldwide, to handle all media rights for BWF Major Events in all territories, across all five continents.

    The deal, which includes the BWF World Championships, is for a three-year period, beginning in 2011.

    Besides the World Championships, IMG Media will also market major BWF events like the Thomas Cup (the Men's World Team Championship), Uber Cup (the Women's Team Championship), the Sudirman Cup (the World Team Championship), World Junior Championships and World Senior Championships.

    "IMG's bid was the preferred option and the BWF Executive Board was happy to select IMG as our media partner for all BWF Major Events for the 2011-2013 period." said BWF chief operating officer Thomas Lund. "The partnership will see IMG distributing all our media and broadcast rights in all continents and we are currently in the final stages of formalising the contract. With IMG’s worldwide networking, the BWF aim to bring the sport to new markets and strengthen our position in existing markets."

    The BWF World Championships will be hosted at the Wembley Arena in London, England in 2011 while the Sudirman Cup will be played in Qingdao, China.

    Chinese Taipei and Vancouver, Canada are the hosts for the 2011 World Junior Championships and World Senior Championships.
